Seo Yuan knew she was in trouble.
Not the kind of trouble that came from making bad decisions. No—this was the kind of trouble that wrapped itself around her, pulling her deeper into a world she didn’t understand.
A world that belonged to Min Yoon-gi.
She had tried to ignore the signs—the way people looked at her, the whispers that followed her after that night at the dinner party. But when she left the bookstore and found Yoon-gi waiting for her, she knew ignoring it was no longer an option.
"Going somewhere, Yuan?"
His voice was casual, but there was something beneath it. Something dangerous.
She swallowed hard, forcing herself to meet his gaze. "Are you following me?"
Yoon-gi tilted his head slightly, his silver hair catching the glow of the streetlights. "If I were, you'd never know."
A shiver ran down her spine, but she refused to let it show.
"Then why are you here?" she demanded.
His lips curved into that infuriating smirk. "Because you’re starting to ask the wrong questions. And in my world, that can get you killed."
Her stomach twisted. His world.
She thought of the name she had heard in the bookstore.
Ghost King.
Seo Yuan took a shaky breath. "Who are you, Min Yoon-gi?"
The smirk faded. For the first time, she saw something else in his eyes—something cold, something ruthless.
"You don’t want to know."
He stepped closer, and she held her ground even as her heart pounded.
"Listen carefully, Yuan." His voice was lower now, almost a whisper. "Stay away from this world. Stay away from me."
Something about the way he said it made her chest tighten.
But the problem was—she wasn’t sure she wanted to
