Chapter 17 The night was quiet. Too quiet. Yoon-gi sat in his office, a cigarette burning between his fingers, watching Seo Yuan sleep on the couch. She had refused to take the bed, stubborn as always. She was exhausted. Physically. Mentally. Emotionally. He couldn’t blame her. His fingers itched to touch her, to remind himself that she was real, that she was here. Instead, he exhaled a slow stream of smoke and turned his attention back to the documents in front of him. A new shipment hijacked. Three of his men are missing. This wasn’t just bad luck. Someone was making a move. And if there was one thing Min Yoon-gi hated, it was being played. A knock at the door. Namjoon stepped in, his face unreadable. "We have a problem." Yoon-gi put out his cigarette. "Tell me." Namjoon tossed a phone onto the table. "You need to see this." The screen lit up with a video. A dimly lit room. A man tied to a chair, blood dripping from his mouth. One of Yoon-gi’s men—Jiho. A figure stepped into view, his face obscured by shadows. And then—a voice. Smooth, controlled. Dangerous. "Min Yoon-gi. You took something from me. Now, I’m here to return the favour." The figure stepped forward into the light. Yoon-gi’s blood turned ice-cold. Jang Hyun-woo. He was a name he hadn’t heard in years. A ghost from his past. Yoon-gi’s jaw tightened as the video continued. Hyun-woo crouched beside Jiho, smirking. "Tell your boss that this is just the beginning." Then, without hesitation— Bang. A single gunshot. The video ended. Namjoon crossed his arms. "We have a war on our hands." Yoon-gi leaned back in his chair, his expression unreadable. Jang Hyun-woo. The man he once called brother. The man he thought was dead. The past was no longer buried. It was coming for him. And it wouldn’t stop until it took everything. ---
