{CHAPTER 4} SHE'S A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING

Tears instantly welled up in my eyes, so I actually worked my ass off only to come back to leftovers?? My God!! What could I have done to Aunt Cath to treat me like this?? She wasn't like this before dad left!

I sighed and threw the leftovers in the bin and made to prepare another.

I was about to on the cooker when she stormed into the kitchen "What!, Are you so spoilt that you now waste food?? Didn't your mother teach you not to wate food? Oh I forgot, she was battling with cancer so she wouldn't have time to train you" She scoffed and I flinched at her words...,

"Aunt Cath is this really coming from you?? mom was your best friend remember?" I couldn't finish my sentence before a resounding slap landed on my face.

"Young lady, I will not have you talk to me like that! your wretched mother is dead and your stupid old father who indulges you is out of town! so tell me who is coming to save you? Answer me! who is coming to save you?!" She screamed whilst pulling my hair.

"Mom please stop! that hurts!, it hurts a lot!" I cried out in agony.., my hair is so soft and fragile..

"Shut up you w***e!," She stopped pulling my hair and stared at me scornfully "You see as from now on, You! will know your place in this house, you hear me?, your father is now my husband and he will sure do whatever I say! So you comport yourself before I kick you out!" She yelled before dragging me out of the kitchen and locked the door "Since you decided to trash the food I left for you, you might as well starve!" She spat then went to her room

I sobbed quietly in my room and picked up moms picture, I miss her so much, "If only you were here mom" .

ISABELLA'S POV

I heard her crying.... but I could only listen.., we're enemies now.., Recalling few hours ago when mom had called me to her room..

"Listen up Ella, you know am your mom and I'm the only one on your side in this house right?"

"But mom what about Mel and dad?" I had thought she was joking so I smiled but she looked at me sternly

"They are never on your side!, Very soon Jason would appoint Melissa as the sole heir to all his assets, leaving us nothing and trust me when she becomes the owner she'll kick us out! she's just like her mom!" mom stated firmly but innocent me replied gently

"But her mon was your best friend mom..and she was nice to us before she died!"

"Seriously? she was nice to us, then why did she suddenly turn against us right before she died and told us to stay away from her?? "

"Well..maybe you did something to offend her.." I simply stated but mom flared up like she had something she was hiding.

"What! what.. what do you mean?? I.. I didn't do anything" she said looking slightly guilty of something

"Well... okay..but" " No buts, you need to limit your closeness with her that all. now get out of my room" I stared at her carefully before leaving to my room..

JASON'S POV

I arrived at the site few hours later and thought to call Mel but I decided against it, she might be around Cath and I didn't want it to look like favoritism, so I slipped my phone back in my pocket and tried to focus on work....

I rounded up around noon and checked my phone, I found 4 missed calls .., all from Cath and none from Mel.. Strange.. I tried calling her, it rang a few time but she didn't pick.., I decided to call Cath and we spoke for a while then I asked her about Mel

"She's fine, we were all at the table for dinner when she suddenly hissed and went back to her room, but it seems she's asleep now"

"Seriously?" I asked again because I was so sure Mel would never do such a thing unless.... then it dawned on me, Maybe she was pretending to like Cath when I was around because she seemed to be against it right from the start, how could sue have given in so easily?? I sighed "Am really sorry on her behalf honey, I'll call her and talk to her tomorrow morning alright" with that we chatted for a few more minutes before she went to sleep...

MELISSA'S POV

It's morning, I woke up with pains all over.., pains I had gotten from Aunt Cath's beating when I had refused to make dinner last night, I sighed and picked up my phone, I found several missed calls from dad, I smiled and tried calling back but he didn't pick.., He might be busy I guess, I dropped my phone and quickly changed to get to work, wouldn't want to incur her wrath this morning.

I walked into the living room limping, good thing Aunt Cath is not there so I quickly went into the kitchen to prepare breakfast and quickly ate mine before going upstairs to call her.., as usual she told me not to eat unless i finished the chores.

CATHERINE'S POV

I sat on my bed reminiscing on my conversation with Jason last night, He had told me to prepare the girls for the Quinns banquet scheduled for the weekend, he then told me it was important for Melissa to go because Mr Quinn planned on introducing Melissa to his only son and if everything went well they might become in-laws..., Imagine that! What about Isabella? Is Melissa only destined for the good things?.... but no problem, I wondered how he would react when he found out what had happened to his most precious child ....

(Knock) "Who's there?" I questioned impatiently knowing who it was ...

"It's me mom, breakfast is ready" She said, fear evident in her voice..., Looks like little miss finally knows her place, I rolled my eyes and went downstairs.

When I and Isabella were settled on the table, I called her.

"Your father called last night, and he told me to prepare you guys for a banquet holding at the Quinns villa tomorrow evening, and you (I pointed at Melissa) when you get there, start acting like the w***e your mother trained you to be alright?" I said sarcastically "Miss goody two shoes" She stared at me looking like she wanted to say something but good thing she didn't....

NEXT DAY, FEW HOURS TO THE BANQUET

MELISSA'S POV

Aunt Cath told me to go get ready while she went with Isabella to her room to get ready.... When I was done, I stepped out and met with their accusatory gazes

With Isabella's face heavily dolled up

"So you mean to tell me you're going to the banquet dressed like that?" Aunt Cath asked

"Yes mom, this dress is my mom's last gift for me" but she shut me up and asked me to take it off and give it to Bella saying only her deserved it...., I reluctantly gave up my dress and went to my room to change into something else...

We got to the banquet right on time, and soon it was time to introduce guests when Aunt Cath asked me to go get something from the car, I read nothing to it and did as I was asked..., but as soon as I got to the car, my mouth was gagged and I was whisked away.......
