{CHAPTER 8} MAYBE HE'S NOT SO BAD AFTERALL

I stared at her teary face and somehow I felt a pang of guilt in me...

"So... I mumbled, not knowing where to start..., I guess she sensed that and asked me

"What really happened that night?"

"That night... I was on a date with a girl my grandma set me up with when..."

"What!" her friend cut me short "So you were on a date with another woman and somehow you managed to find a way to r**e her?!" She yelled at me

"No no no, that's not what happened okay... just calm down and let me explain alright..... So as I was saying... I was on a date with this lady my grandma set me up with... and few minutes into the date, I started feeling somehow and before I knew it I was starting to lose control before I found out she had drugged me.., so I found a way to leave and on my way out I saw you struggling to break free from a man's arm, and with just one glance I could tell you need help.., so I got rid of the guy and helped you to the room.., but they had drugged you too! you kept pulling me closer and I had no choice but to do it.. I'm so sorry, you left right before I woke up so I wasn't able to talk to you... I'm really sorry, I know you must hate me right now but if you could just find a tiny bit of space in your heart to forgive me... alright" I finally heaved.

"So you were drugged and you used me as your cure right?"

"What no! you were drugged too!....And..it was my....first time... too" I said staring at my feet..., I had never felt this embarrassed....

"Oh wow" her friend chimed in

She stared at me for a while before finally speaking "Get out"

"What?" I didn't get what she said

"I said get out!!" she yelled at me and I flinched

"Okay I get that you're mad at me... but here's my card, call me when you're calm alright? I'm just so grateful that I was able to explain this to you" I handed my card to her and she didn't take it but her friend did and we left.

MELISSA'S POV

I somehow calmed down at his words but that doesn't change the fact that he r***d me right?

He handed me his card but I was reluctant to take it so he gave it to Anna and left.

"So, what do you think" Anna asked

"I don't know..... his explanation sounds convincing enough though but...."

"But what Mel, but what? Well if you're to ask me, I would say he already realized his mistake and he's apologizing.., I can tell he's trying to make things right!"

"Yeah i know..., but what if he's lying? what if he doesn't mean what he said? what if he lets me down... I don't know.."

"Listen honey, I understand how you feel okay.. but it's fine, you can't tell without trying right? Just take your time and make a decision alright, and I promise I'll always support your decision"

Anna... she always knows how to make me feel better.... I rested my head on her shoulder and closed my eyes and let my thoughts sway me away....

JASON'S POV

She really left and she didn't come back or call! I even called her but she didn't pick up...

Honestly I miss her so much, and a part of me really wants to believe all this is a lie but Catherine can't lie right?

I feel so bad for not allowing her take anything from the house... But I only did that with the thought that she would stay!

I never expected her to leave! But.... if the rumors weren't true she should have stayed and explain right

"Shut up, didn't she try to explain and you shut her up?" My subconsciousness told me...

Oh am such a terrible father (phone rings)"Hey pal, what's up?"

"Jason my man, how've you been?"

"Am okay, I know you so well.., you hardly call, is anything the problem?"

"Ahahaha! Anyways I called to confirm something.... How's your daughter Melissa?"

I went silent for a second not knowing what to tell him...

"Errmm she's fine, what about her?"

"Nothing much, I saw her going into the Gray's hospital and when she came out, it looked like she was crying..., so I went in and talked to one of the doctors there, he's a very close friend of mine....so he told me she came for pregnancy test... I wonder if that's true, do you know anything about that?"

I was dumbfounded! Melissa! pregnancy test! It could only mean one thing.... Catherine was right! She had indeed left with those guys that night! and now she's pregnant.

And here I am feeling guilty for pushing her away... goshh am so disappointed in her! I hanged up without another word and settled on the couch....

WRITER'S POV

Holden sat in his office, seemingly trying to work but he couldn't concentrate....., his mind was with her! He wanted to see her but he knew that isn't possible... A lot of questions kept running through his mind ..."what is she doing now?" "Could she be crying again?" "What about the baby?" The baby... he smiled at the thought of the baby.... He's going to become a father!

He thought of something then stood up and made to leave the office, his assistant was just about to come in when he opened the door, "Boss, do you need anything? Are you heading out?"

"Yes, I need to see her, I really want to talk to her"

"But Boss, you know that isn't possible, she said she doesn't want to see you, so how will you talk to her then?"

"I'll find a way okay, I'll be back soon... you don't have to come with me " with that he left.

He stopped at the mall and got groceries for her, he picked out few thing he knew they might need.

He got there and knocked for a while before her friend came out

"You again? I thought she made it clear already that she doesn't want to see you... so why are you here?"

"Please I really need to talk to her, i beg you..., just let me see her for a few minutes and I'll be out, please"

Anna sighed then let him in , he got in and saw her coming out of the kitchen

"Hi" he said nervously

"I thought I made it clear that I don't want to see you here, why are you here now?:

"Listen, I know you don't want to see me alright, But Melissa please give me a chance to take care of you and the baby, I want to be responsible for both of you! I put you in this position so it's just right I take responsibility, please, just give me a chance will you?"

"Do I look like am suffering?? I don't need you to take responsibility, merely seeing you reminds me of a memory is so much want to erase so please just stay away from me... please"

He calmly listened to her and stared for a while "I brought this for you, please don't say no" he handed her the bag and she reluctantly accepted it.

He smiled and turned to leave but she stopped him, "Mind staying over for lunch? you don't have to stay if you're busy"

"And who says am busy?" He said and sat obediently....., she served him and they all sat to eat.

After the meal, Holden and Anna chatted, while Melissa only stared at them.

Holden thanked them both for the food and said he had to leave, they both waved him goodbye, but he pulled Melissa closer and kissed her! "I love you" With that he got into his car and left while both of them stood there dumbfounded....
