{CHAPTER 9} DENIAL

"Did he just ....."

"Kiss you, yes he did Mel!" Anna finished the sentence still surprised

They both stood there for a while before Anna pulled her into the house...

"You know Mel, I think this guy is starting to like you! I mean... you don't just go about kissing random girls right?"

"Since it was so easy for him to sleep with me without my consent, what's kissing me then..." She rolled her eyes

HOLDEN'S POV

"You kissed her! you just kissed her!" My subconsciousness screamed ....

Thinking back on when I had kissed her..., I just couldn't resist... I've been staring at her lips while her friend was talking to me.., they look so soft and luscious Gosh!

"Wait! what am I doing!" I suddenly yelled at myself in the car....., I can't be falling for her right, we only ended up together because of what happened and I will take responsibility for her, that's what we're gonna do , right ?

But why is it so hard to ignore this feeling! I really don't want to feel like this! I shouldn't feel like this!

I don't want to scare her away! I sighed miserably..., How i feel is my business right? ....

Days passed, turned into weeks, weeks turned into months and just like that she was already four months gone..., Holden had been sure to keep in touch and would call frequently just to check up on her....

While her family on the other hand, had been keeping up pretty well even without her around..

Jason made Isabella the manager in such a short time and Catherine kept asking when he would make her the heir, he only told her soon....

MELISSA'S POV

I had been talking to Holden for the past few months and I must say... he's really helpful.. . Maybe he's not that bad afterall....

(Phone rings) Speaking of the devil..

"Hi Holden"

"Hi mami, how're you feeling today?"

Mami..... I blushed slightly, he's been calling me that since I agreed he could come over and check up on me and the baby whenever he wants...

"I'm okay... just feeling slightly nauseous" I simply said.... I wanted him to come over (smiles)

"Did you eat anything bad, should I come take you to the hospital?" he asked worriedly

"Well... I don't know.."

"I'll be right there mama, just give me few minutes alright"

"Okay"

I dropped my phone and fixed myself before he arrived, he drove in few minutes later

(Knocks) "Hey, come in"

He came in with a bag full of fruits

"Hi mama, how you feeling? Here I got you this"

I blushed till my cheeks turned red

"Thanks" I said coquettishly and collected it from him.

I went to drop it in the kitchen and came back, he had already sat down.

He stared at me for a while... "How do you feel now? do we have to go to the hospital?"

"No it's fine, I feel much better now just tired that's all"

He stared at me as if he was studying my face then proceeds to talk...

"Are you free this weekend?"

"Yes why?"

"I want to take you to meet grandma"

My heart dropped ! grandma!

"But....but am not ready"

He smiled slightly "Are you scared? Come on Grandma doesn't bite"

"Yeah I know.... but.....you know...how would she feel about my condition? Am supposed to meet her normally....right?"

"Mel chill... I talked to her about it already"

"What! ..... what was her response?"

"You'll see for yourself when we get there alright "

I sighed softly "Okay "

He stayed for a while and we chatted for a while, He told me about work and how stressful it was, he also talked about a new project he's working on... and soon it was time to say goodbye

"Missing me already?" He smiled

"What no! why will I miss you?"

"If you say so mama, I'll call you when I get home "

"Hm "

"Be good and take care of yourself alright"

"Yeah I will " I waved him goodbye and he left, Just then Anna walked in

" Hmn hmn, is that a smile I see on your face? by the way, who was that?"

"Holden " I simply said

"Ho who??" She asked feigning suprise

I rolled my eyes and walked in while she followed briskly !Hypocrite!

"So what happened to "I hate him, I don't wanna see him blah blah blah?" She half yelled

"Bring your voice down! Ugh! Well he only came to check on me and brought some stuffs that's all" I said and shrugged

"That's all.." she said imitating me "Really?? Girl look at your face! You're in looovveeee!" She yelled again

"Oh please! Am pretty sure it's the pregnancy hormones that's making me feel somehow towards him, I really don't like him...,

Anna stared at me for a while and shakes her head... "Oh well then, we shall see" she said and strolls into the kitchen....

I was just about to sit and relax when I heard her scream again ugh! Typical Anna "What is it now"

"Ooooohhhh baibeyyy, I've been dying to have fruit salad these days but I've been to lazy to go get the fruit and now here they areeee" She said while dancing

"So you were screaming because of fruit? Girl seriously?? Arrrggghhh! Am so tired of you " I said in exasperation

"Whatever, go sit your ass down imma bring you some when am done"

"It's okay let me help"

"Ain't no way mami" she said winking and I immediately understood so her

"Shut up, you sound nothing like him" I rolled my eyes and walked out of the kitchen

JASON'S POV

It's been days, weeks turning into months! and she hasn't called! Not even once. I can't believe she's this rebellious.....

I picked up my phone and made to call her... But Catherine stopped me

"Honey what are you doing?" she said staring at my phone

"Uhh Nothing, just trying to call Mel, she hasn't been calling for a while and am somehow worried "

"Hm, Honey don't you think you're getting worried over nothing? I mean.... she left this house and hasn't bothered calling or even come back do you really think she cares? She must have eloped with the boyfriend that got her pregnant! That's if the boy is ready to accept the pregnancy " She said and rolled her eyes

"But she's still my daughter afterall, you can't say that... Maybe she's out there somewhere suffering... that's not the kind of life I promised her mother I would give her..."

"Oh so you're still thinking about her? Really?"

"Catherine what do you mean? She was my wife!"

"Oh really? she was your wife but you were sleeping with me even when she was still alive! She was your wife but you gave her drugs that'll slow down her treatment! She was your wife! Jason! She was your wife but you killed her! You killed her! Just to be with me!"

I quickly covered her mouth "Cath you can't say that! what if Isabella heard you? What do you want her to think of me? I never said I don't love you, Am just saying... Melissa is my child afterall It's just my responsibility to take care of her don't you think?"

"Oh really? What about Isabella? Isn't she your child also??" She snapped and rolled her eyes

"Okay okay, now this is going too far...., we agreed not to let Isabella know that for now you know"

"Whatever, I just don't like it when you mention her name around me, you met me first afterall, If only that witch didn't get married to you because of her father's wealth..."

"Hush now darling, Well you're with me now right?"
