{CHAPTER 3} NEW TURN

MELISSA'S POV

The days went by really fast and we got along pretty well, Aunt Catherine would wake me up with breakfast in bed, while Isabella would come to my room to watch movies, go through my closet and all.

(yikes!) Can't believe i totally forgot my best friend! arrgh, bet she would be so mad at me..., I picked up my phone and dialed her number "Took you long enough" her voice came through nonchalantly "I am so sorry Anna, my hands have been so full lately that I haven't had the time to call , will you forgive me?(pouts)" she rolls her eyes on the other end of the call "Even to the extent of not being able to pick when I call?" "I know I have no excuse I'm really sorry honey" I pleaded "It's okay, I can't be mad at you anyways, so what's up?" I smiled "A lot Anna, can I come over?" I said standing up to get dressed knowing she won't refuse me "Yeah sure, but are you okay?" She asked worriedly "Yeah sure, I'll be there soon". I said and we hanged up.

I got dressed, went out and locked my room door(I don't like it when someone go through my stuffs behind me), I saw dad and Aunt Catherine as soon as I got downstairs "Dad, Aunt am stepping out for a while" Aunt Catherine turned to look at me before asking "Where are you off to?" "My best friends place" I replied stuffing the cookies on the table in my mouth and gave them both kisses on the cheeks before heading out "Don't be out late okay, or you stay there if it gets too late" Dad's worried voice came ringing lol "Okay dadda byeee" With that I left the house and got to Anna's place in less than 40 minutes.

"Hey girlfriend" , I was welcomed by the smell of pancakes "Ooohh what do we have here" I said grinning ear to ear, "Hey there miss, welcome to Anna's kitchen, what can we offer you"

"The best delicacy on your list ma'am" I replied sarcastically, she served me pancakes and some milk shake and we talked about what she has been up to ..., "So what's up with you Mel" She asked worriedly, I stared at her for few seconds before dropping the bombshell "Dad is in love with Aunt Catherine "

"Wait what???, same Aunt Catherine? Your mom's best friend??" she asked with shock visible on her face "Yeah" I replied nonchalantly

"They've moved in with us, that's why I've been busy" I added

"What?!!" she shouted again

"At this point am starting to blame myself for telling you, coz it seems you might pass out from shock soon" I said smiling

"Poor Mel, How are you coping?" she asked visibly worried

"I'm doing just fine, I meann she's been nice to me and all, but something just doesn't feel right but I can't decipher what it is"

She nodded and pulled me closer....., we dropped the topic and talked about something else, we chatted till I fell asleep in her arms..., by the time I woke up it was evening already, I opened my eyes and found her sleeping beside me

"Hey, it's late I should go home now, dad would be worried" I shook her

"Ummmm heyy" she grunted "Why can't you just stay over?"

"I can't, next time alright? I have some things to attend to at home" I packed up and made to leave while she trailed behind me, I ordered a ride and he arrived in less than 5 minutes, "Bye hon" she waved at me pouting "Bye baby" the ride was around 35 minutes and I got home just in time for dinner.

"Hi dad, hi mom"

"Hi honey, freshen up and come downstairs for dinner, I have something to tell you guys" dad said

"Okay dadda " I went to my room and had a cold shower then changed quickly to rush downstairs (I was so curious about what dad had to tell us), I got downstairs and Isabella was there too "Hi Bella" I bent slightly to kiss her on the cheeks and she smiled slightly

"Mom said you went to Anna's"

"Yeah it's been a while since I last saw her" I stared at her knowing she wanted to say more "What?"

"And you couldn't take me with you? I was so bored"

"I'm so sorry sisi, Didn't know you'd wanna come along, next time alright"

"Okay that's enough, I need to talk to you guys" dad said looking slightly worried, while we listened with rapt attention

"There's a project i have to personally oversee outside the country and it's really important so I'll be gone for a while, three weeks at most, but no worries your mom will be here for you guys alright?" dad said while staring at I and Isabella.

Aunt Catherine nodded slightly before answering "Aww honey we'll miss you"

"We sure will" Isabella stated sadly, but I wasn't used to being away from dad , but he has to go right "Be good dad" I simply stated, After that we all ate in silence and went to bed.

I woke up early to see dad off, Aunt Cath and Isabella were already downstairs, I joined them and we all walked him out, he hugged us all, got into the car and drove off.

I blinked back tears, I didn't want to look like a crybaby, so we all went back in then Aunt Cath's voice came ringing..,

"Melissa go into the kitchen and make breakfast, when you're done make sure the whole house is clean before you can eat is that clear? Isabella come with me" I looked up at her surprised

" But mom, what about Bella, how come I have to do all the chores while she gets nothing?" I stared at her with my big round eyes

"Mel, when have you gotten so inconsiderate? You know for sure Ella has fragile hands and can't do these things..., go get to it quickly okay" I frowned slightly but still went ahead to do it, while they both went to her room.

CATHERINE'S POV

(soliloquizing) Urrghh, Finally i can quit pretending I love this little witch, she's just a spoilt little rat just like her mother and she needs to know her place and I'll do just that...., and am pretty sure very soon Jason will plan on making her the sole heir to the CEO'S position, She's his only child but who cares....., what about mine?

I went to freshen up smiling knowing that she's working her ass off right now...

MELISSA'S POV

"Ouch" I yelled out when the knife slipped and hurt my finger, tears rolled down my eyes and I wondered why...., it's just a small bruise right? But then..., my mind wandered back to Aunt Cath.., what have I done to her? Is she mad at me? Did I do anything wrong? Is she in a bad mood? All these questions kept running through my mind but then I thought..... maybe she's trying to raise me to be a better adult.... With that I smiled and continued working, I finished making breakfast and went to call them both, but Aunt Cath refused I eat unless I finish my chores...,

"Mom please, am so hungry.. I'll continue as soon as am done okay" I said trying to sit but she yelled at me and I jolted off the chair while staring at her in surprise, Isabella kept eating without interfering.. A tear fell from my eye and I quickly wiped it off and continued my chores, it's just chores right? .

I went to the kitchen to grab my food as soon as I was done but to my surprise there were only leftovers.....
