"Nikolai's forehead creased for a moment, and then he smiled at me. "Of course, I'm your private detective. I can easily track down people."
"So, when can I see them? Where do they live? And how can I get in touch with my twin sister's daughter? I'm so excited to meet her and maybe someday introduce her to my parents," I said with a twinkle in my eyes.
Nikolai gave me a half-smile. "I think it won't be long. I just need to do more investigating before we can make a move. How about that?"
I nodded. "I think that's a better idea." Then I remembered I had to pay him. I'd been so preoccupied that I'd forgotten.
"Uh, wait..." I said, opening my purse, grabbing a pen and a check, and writing something on it. "This is for you. I'm so happy with your service."
