Chapter 24: The First SignThe phone rang in the middle of the night, three weeks after Derek’s return. Adam didn’t even hear it, Derek had to wake him up and tell him it was for him.
“Sheriff Lambert wants you,” Derek told him.
Drowsily, Adam managed to lift his head up from the pillow long enough to see his husband’s serious face. “What happened?” he asked.
“There’s a body.”
These words woke Adam up immediately. There weren’t many bodies to be found in Nantucket, except for the occasional dead critter.
Derek explained, “At the harbor.”
