--- Scene: St. Luke’s Hospital – Dialysis Ward – Afternoon Ayra stood beside her mother’s bed, watching the slow drip of clear fluid, the rhythmic beeping of machines that now sounded… merciful. Her mom was stable again. Jaden had come through. The hospital staff treated her differently now — suddenly respectful. Word had spread. Someone powerful was backing her. Ayra tucked the blanket around her mother’s feet, gently brushing aside a loose strand of hair. Her mother stirred weakly, gave her a small nod of gratitude. For a brief moment… Ayra breathed. But the moment died as her phone buzzed. Unknown Number. Her heart sank. --- Scene: Outside St. Luke’s – A Shaded Bench She answered on the third ring. “Miss Hale,” came the sharp voice of Dr. Marcelo, director of St. Francis Hospital. “I’m calling about your father.” Ayra stood slowly. “Yes?” “It’s been nearly two weeks since he was admitted. Heart surgery. ICU care. Private ward. We’ve received zero payment.” “I know, I’m—” “I’m not asking for excuses. I’m informing you that if ₱700,000 isn’t paid by tomorrow, your father will be moved to a public ward—or discharged altogether. And I can’t guarantee survival in either case.” Ayra’s throat clenched. “Please… please just give me a few more days. I’m trying.” “This is a hospital, not a waiting room for miracles.” The line went dead. --- Scene: Jaden Cross’s Penthouse – The Next Morning Ayra stood in the marble foyer again — same heels, same silence. But this time, she wasn’t trembling. She was burning. Jaden emerged from his study, suit jacket slung lazily over one shoulder, shirt unbuttoned at the top. His eyes skimmed her figure without apology. “I paid your mother’s bills,” he said, sipping his coffee. “Is that why you're back? Or did you just miss being owned?” “I need more time,” she said, voice tight. “My father—he needs emergency care. The private ward won’t keep him much longer.” Jaden walked past her, heading to the bar. “So you’ve returned to extend your leash.” She didn’t reply. He poured himself a glass of water. “Another month?” She nodded. He turned, eyes glinting. “No.” Ayra’s chest tightened. “What?” “I don’t do extensions,” he said coolly. “I do upgrades.” He pulled out a fresh folder from the shelf, walked toward her, and dropped it in her hands. She opened it. > Private Agreement – Ayra Hale Term: Two Months Compensation: Full payment of all parental hospital bills Conditions: Total discretion, exclusive physical companionship, presence at private events upon request, no emotional entanglements Ayra’s hands trembled. “Two months?” Jaden leaned against the table, arms folded. “Do you want your father to live, or not?” “This wasn’t the deal.” He tilted his head slightly. “Neither was crawling back. But here you are.” Ayra stared at him, throat dry, vision stinging. No warmth. No mercy. Just terms. Just control. She flipped to the last page, took the pen from the table, and signed. Her signature sank into the paper like blood into snow. --- Scene: Ayra’s Dorm – That Night She opened her drawer and stared at the first contract, now tucked beneath the second. Two pages. Two signatures. Two versions of herself she barely recognized. She whispered to the empty room: “Never again.” Then turned over the first contract and scribbled on the back in sharp, angry strokes: > War begins. --- Scene: Jaden’s Penthouse – Two Days Later Ayra stood at the tall, glossy black doors, her bag in one hand, the contract in the other. A fingerprint scanner blinked. Before she could press the buzzer, the doors swung open on their own. Jaden stood inside. He didn’t smile. Just stepped aside. “Move in day,” he said flatly. Ayra remained frozen. “You didn’t say I had to live here.” He turned to her slowly. “Page four. Clause seven. Line twelve.” She swallowed hard. The words from the contract came rushing back like a slap. > “The signee agrees to relocate to a private residence upon request of the sponsor, for the duration of the agreement. Refusal or delay shall result in a doubled repayment of sponsor's contributions to date.” She stepped inside. The air was cold. Like him. The doors shut behind her with a finality that felt like prison gates. --- Scene: Jaden’s Living Room – Moments Later The penthouse was all glass and marble and silence. A view of the city stretched behind him, endless and rich. It felt like he owned the sky. He walked to the center of the room and spoke without turning around. “You’ll have your own room. First door to the left. My room is at the end of the hall. When I need you—” “I’ll come,” she muttered bitterly. His gaze flicked to her. “No,” he said. “When I need you, you’ll already be there.” Ayra’s fingers clenched on the strap of her bag. “This wasn’t what I—” “You signed,” he interrupted, voice like stone. “Every condition. Every line. Every rule.” Her eyes flashed. “I didn’t know I was signing up to be your prisoner.” He walked over, invading her space with deliberate calm. “You’re not a prisoner, Ayra. You’re property.” She sucked in a breath. Jaden’s voice lowered, silk-wrapped in steel. “You need money. I have it. But in my world, nothing is free. You don’t get to rewrite rules after taking my signature.” She didn’t answer. She couldn’t. “You can walk out,” he added with a shrug, “and I’ll contact the hospital billing department right now. They’ll forward you the invoice. Triple the total, plus breach penalties.” Ayra’s body sagged with invisible weight. She turned her head, blinking back tears. Then walked silently toward the hallway. --- Scene: Guest Bedroom – That Night She dropped her bag on the floor and sank onto the edge of the bed. It was queen-sized, velvet-covered, perfectly made. Just like the trap she was in. She opened the drawer on the bedside table. Her contract was there — along with a digital time tracker already counting down. 60 days, 14 hours. She pulled out a pen and on the back of the contract, added a new line beneath War begins: > He owns the walls. But not the fight
