"Don't call me that," River said almost immediately, but when I looked at her, she had a small smile she was desperately trying to cover, and I felt a bit happier that it was better. I knew I still had to apologise to her for being everything I was for the past few days.
"You act as if you don't like it, but I can tell that you do like it," I say, and she looks away for a moment before looking back at me.
"I do not like nicknames."
"But I do."
"I guess we are in a dilemma right now, aren't we?" I know it's funny, but why did it just feel too much like she was flirting with me? Wasn't it one of her rules not to?
"We are, sweetheart, we are," I say and let the silence simmer for a while before I go on to break it. "I am sorry for these few days," I say and look up.
