Scarlett’s Pov
Another morning in this house that doesn’t feel like home.
Xavier wasn’t in bed as usual.
I wonder where he always goes.
I decided to go round the house to check if I would see him.
After an endless search,there he was.
boxing a punching bag.
I was a little bit surprised because why would someone just wake up and have so much energy
to start boxing.
I was baffled by his actions sometimes.
After a while,he finally noticed I was staring.
“What are you staring at?”He said in a loud voice.
“Good morning and how was your night?“I said, ignoring his question.
“It was good,
”he answered with a smile on his face.
I was wondering what was making him smile because it’s so unlike him.“It looks like you’re happy today, would you mind sharing your source of joy?”I asked him
curiously.
“why do you care if i’m happy?”he asked.
“Anyways in my dream I saw my father. We were spending time together,going on adventures
and traveling to different countries.Seeing his face again brought so much joy into my
life.
”Xavier said all this with a big smile on his face.
For the first time in a week of staying with Xavier it makes it the first time I have seen him this
happy.
He is always angry for one reason or the other.
The way he reacted to seeing his father in his dream made me see him as a sweet person who
has a pure heart.
“I’m running late for work “He rushed out of the boxing room.
Then I decided to go and do some chores in the house.
Xavier had his bath and dressed up quickly.
He ate his breakfast that was made by the chef.
As he was about to leave the house he saw me cleaning.
“Who asked you to clean the house?”He asked, giving me an irritating facial reaction.
No one just decided to clean the house.
“Let today be the last day you clean the house and do chores.I paid people to do that job already”He said.
You’re now Mrs Kane so you should carry yourself differently.
And before I forget you aren’t allowed to leave this house today.
“Why “I asked,I didn’t even know where the sudden courage came from.
“Nobody dares question me, I make the rules and whatever I say is final”he said.
Immediately he finished talking and he left.“Who does he think he is to control me this way? I should have my rights and freedom as a
human. The fact that I'm married to him doesn’t mean my human rights should be stolen.What
kind of life did God choose for me?”I thought.
I would go out and nothing is going to happen.
I had my bath and dressed up.
I ordered the driver to drive me to a shopping mall.
He wanted to hesitate .
I told him not to be scared that Xavier won’t say anything about him taking me out.
The driver agreed.
She went to the mall and shopped for a few things.
She felt freedom again after a couple of days that felt like years.
while she was shopping for something she needed.She coincidentally saw her high school mate, Gabriel.Gabriel was Scarlett’s ex from secondary school.Gabriel hugged her in a seductive way and gave her a peck on her forehead.All this whole incident was planned by Camila making sure she informed Xavier that his wife was in a mall with another man .Xavier rushed to the mall and witnessed everything.
He was disappointed but Scarlett withdrew from the guy when he was passing his boundaries.She decided to leave the mall informing him that she is legally married now.
Xavier didn’t really get angry at Scarlett because he knew it was all planned by Camila.
After shopping she returned home.
Xavier got back from work like an hour after she got back.
“Where did you go today?”He asked without greeting.
“To the mall”I answered him.
I thought I gave you an instruction not to leave this house.
“ Yes you did but I needed to go out" I answered him.
When I say you shouldn’t do something you shouldn’t do it . Let today be the first and the last time you try to disobey whatever order I give to you.
“In fact I'm having a meeting with every staff member in this mansion”Xavier said angrily .
And before you know it he was angry again.
All his staff assembled in the living room.
“As you all know I just got married and I want all of you to introduce yourselves so she can know you guys properly “Xavier said
He asked all of them to introduce themselves properly.
“My name is Mrs. Evelyn Carter,
”she said politely.“I'm the house keeper”.
“My name is Damien.I’m the head of security “.
“My name is Chef Maria Laurent. I'm the personal chef”.
“My name is Oliver Grant.I’m the driver “.
“I’m Lily Bennett .The young maid”.
“I’m Victoria Reed.Xavier’s assistant “.
“I’m Mr Harold Greene,I’m the gardener “.
“All of you must treat her the way you treat me and whatever she says is final”Xavier said to all of them.
Despite all the anger he displayed,I felt like royalty.Wow so many workers I thought to myself.
I haven’t experienced such treatment since after my father went bankrupt.
“What are you thinking about this time?”He said, distracting me from my thoughts.
“Let today be the first and the last time you disobey me and leave the house again”He said angrily.
“Unless what ,what would you do and how do you know I left this house ?”I answered him courageously.
“Firstly,There are cameras everywhere “He said
cameras?
everywhere?
Both outside and inside.
Why are you watching me?
Why i’m i being monitored?
“And when did you become this bold?”He asked, still surprised about the way I replied to him.I’m aware of everything that happens in this house.
Anyways you don’t want to know what i would do to you when you disobey my others.
“It seems like you have forgotten what happened the last time”He said with a dangerous smile
on his face.
“I won’t let you treat me like this,
” I said, breathing heavily.
My chest was tightened.
I’m leaving this house.
“Where do you think you’re going,you don’t have a choice than to spend your entire life with me forever.”He said.
I do have a choice and I would always have a choice.I’m human.
I have the right to think and decide for myself.I tried to reach for the door but it was locked.Tears rolled down my eyes.Then I realized this wasn’t marriage.This was torture.He owned me.
“Where do you think you’re heading to?”He said aggressively.
“Why are you keeping me inside?”I asked.
“I’m protecting you “He said
I didn’t ask for your protection.
Just let me be free.
“No that would never happen”he said
“Why are you trying to punish me for a sin I didn't commit? and why do you try to control me and our marriage? ”I asked him with tears in my eyes.
“Do you think this is all about revenge?”he said.
Then what is it about?
“With time you would understand," he said, leaving me on the spot.
He went upstairs.
“So this isn’t all about revenge“I thought to myself.
