Chapter four

On a bright summer morning, in the Berth’s family mansion there is great festivities and fanfare as Natalie's the only child of Quinn and Lennie Berth would be getting married to Tobi Marcel.

The marriage was a match made in heaven and it was enviable.

To the Berths family this marriage would signify the sealing of a long term family agreement of joining the both families as one due to a long standing friendship. It would also make a solid foundation for their businesses.

To Natalie this is a kind of dream come true situation because she has been crushing on Tobi for longer than she could remember. Since their childhood days. But she received this marriage with mixed feelings because she doesn't know Tobi's stand in this marriage arrangements

The ceremony is to be held at an eight star hotel and the most expensive the state has the offer. The Flonty’s Hotel was fully booked for the entire week and no other customer was allowed to book until the grand event was over.

The place was filled with fresh flowers, expensive wine's, celebrities and other dignified personalities.

Everyone chattered excitedly because it was the greatest event of the century.

Natalie Berth was being given a makeover by about five ladies who glamed her up for the big occasion.

She was wearing a custom-made white dress from the Vinny collection. The gown shone and was decorated with diamonds.

Her exquisite makeup made her beautiful facial features more prominent.

She looks at her cousin Lisa who's is her maid of honor and asked her “what is that look on your face”? You don't seem happy?

Lisa replied “are you sure about this wedding"?. "what if you are making a mistake”?

" Come on cousin I already have my wedding cake frosted and today's my big day and you should be happy for me and not this”. Natalie replied looking into Lisa's eyes searchingly

“Of course, I am happy cousin only that I am concerned about you.” said Lisa

“Concerned!?” Asked Natalie with a scoff.

“Well!” Lisa shrugged.

“Well what?” Natalie looked askance

“Nothing, let's focus on your big day.” Lisa shrugged.

“But you seem bothered you can always share I always listen you know”. Natalie said

“You know my dear cousin you too might be getting married soon” both giggles

“Nat you really need to hasten up you wouldn't want to be late for your own wedding.” said Lisa pulling her up

“Okay dearest cousin” Lisa said

A maid walked in and announced “young mistress it is time!” then Natalie walked out in the company of Lisa who helped her to hold her gown.

On their way out Lisa looked at Natalie and a bitter bile rose in her throat. Her cousin would be a little distant from her now.

She thought silently but enviously “why does she always get everything good and not me?”

“Well it just might be fate who knows I could get lucky someday.” she thought sadly to herself

“I wish I would not have to be here to attend this wedding.” She thought silently to herself as went into the hotel and sat with Berth's family.

Lisa and Andy did a duet on Perfect by Ed Sheeran while Natalie and her father matched in graciously. Tobi kept a stoic face, and kept thinking of his family betrayal to him. He was jolted back to reality when he heard the priest saying the vows for them to repeat to each other.

“In the name of God, I, Tobi Marcel, take you, Natalie Berth to be my wife, to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, until parted by death.” and she repeated same. Then you may now kiss the bride Tobi stiffened but has to do it because of the paparazzi around so as not to stir the News headlines and give people something to talk about.

On their way home Natalie tried to negotiate a chat with Tobi but he totally ignored her and kept tapping at his phone. She felt ignored and was looking on silently and wondering why he was cold towards her.

On getting to the abode where they would now reside as a couple, Tobi quickly got down from the car and went to his wing without caring about Natalie. Natalie waited for him to at least come to show her around the mansion when it became obvious that he was not going to help her settle in she tried seeking him out but the mansion appeared large so she was confused. When she could not find him she went to enquire from the housekeeper where he was and she was told that he has left but was directed by the house keeper to his wing in the mansion. she wondered why he left without a word to her.

Natalie wondered “why is he cold towards me today of all days when we are supposed to be getting acquainted.” She shrugged it off and decided to wear the sexy turquoise lingerie she selected from the exclusive clothing store and wait for him. She lay on his bed and drifted off to sleep.

Natalie was awakened by a hard tap.

“What the hell do you think you are doing here and dressed this way"? Tobi asked with rage written on his face.

“Uhm……..!” Natalie was tongue tied.

“Are you thinking of seducing me?” Tobi scoffed.

“You are not even up to my standard so don't get ideas into your head." Tobi berated

" Now get out of my room!" Tobi ordered.

" Erm! I…” she tried to find her voice.

“I wouldn't want to repeat myself.” Tobi thundered.

Natalie walked out embarrassed with large tears drops from her eyes. She has never been this humiliated in her entire life. She sat on the bare floor just outside the room and a lot of thoughts ran through her head as she sobbed. Her wedding has turned into her worst nightmare.
