Chapter 19: The Search for an Ally

Ally with the Humans?

Is that even possible? We the demons? Wouldn't they just try everything they could to get rid of us? Hell, if a demon appeared and said, ‘Let's be friends and go to war with the angels,’that would be messed up in the eyes of a human, especially those who worship the so-called God who created them. and before anything else

“Who are you?”

I asked this person like mana, levitating like a ghost, with it’s features completely shrouded in mana or maybe it’s totally made up of mana, I can’t tell, well nothing’s surprising anymore

“I am what you call Entha, the will of the demon Overlord Azam, the one guiding the demons”

Answered the person like mana, it simply stood still but its lips moved, projecting a voice comparable to angels from a certain book,

Eh? Entha? I thought it was simply something that grants a job to the demons but to think that it could converse, I got out of bed and kneeled, not a kneel like those of the knights' with one foot still on the ground, but of someone worshipping their god with both knees and even my forehead on the ground, this is the will of someone worthy of being revered as a kind God, the one who gave us the gift of knowledge, and the one who protected those that had followed him,

“Calix no need to do such things”

Said Entha, she was blue all in all but I could imagine a flustered expression from her voice,

“I insist, just for a bit, allow me to thank you”

“Then listen closely, I won’t be able to guide you thoroughly but let me give guide you, Convince the Kingdom of Enratas to Ally with the huma-“

It shrieked, a pained shriek, Entha’s arms disintegrated for a moment before returning to the normal hue of blue,

“As you can see I have my hands full of maintaining the barrier thus to make sure the demons would listen to you, I’d be dispelling the Entha of the overlord they are graced upon, confusion would arise but this is the best I can do, I’m sorry and I wish you good luck”

Continued Entha , before vanishing into thin air, what followed was a commotion in the duchy, panicked footstep could be heard outside the hallway and a second later my door burst open,

But Why Me? Why not the demon king? I felt helpless at this task, it was  heavy, too heavy for someone like me,

Heather had stopped swinging his sword in the open field of the Duchy of De Val, and stood still, staring at the blade in his hand, puzzled as to why he couldn't feel the same elevated feeling of dancing with the sword, yet instead of flinging it away, he clutched it even harder.

Elena had stopped etching a magic circle and creased her brows at the laboratory in the duchy of De Val. She rapidly assessed what had gone wrong and questioned why producing magic circles no longer gave her a satisfying feeling.

Halen had stopped moving in a certain chamber on Earth, staring at the contract she was holding, and instead of making a pact with the human in front of her, she had called out Gale, reopening the magic circle on Helliun.

Duke Areath at his quarters felt a chill on his back he was confused as to why the pleasure of ruling over his subject had ceased to exist,

It wasn’t just the demon of the duchy experiencing such things, demons around Helliun and those of Earth, had lost those feeling brought by their Entha which threw them into shock, the fanatics were even on tears, but the King on the other hand, a Grandif with the Eyes of Plegia, a demon that of the size of an average person standing at no more than 6 feet had realized that the task to govern the whole of the demon world had left his being, at his domain, the demon castle that stood at the center of the 4 duchies surrounded by the 8 march of the marquises encircled by the 16 territories of earl and viscounts, He stood guard over his subjects, who had confused expressions on their faces, waiting for an answer from the one who leads them, but even he didn't understand what had happened. Even if the task of governing the demon world had been delegated to him, he still had to put an end to the chaos or the demon world would surely fall. He rose from his ornate throne and walked to his castle's balcony and with a wave of his hand a glowing blue magic circle enveloped the whole Kingdom of Enratas, it was the size of a continent and from the magic circle was a clear echo of his solemn voice,

“Be Calm Azam’s subjects, I assure you that this is also a will of our Lord”

After all, the demons should always honor Azam as the only genuine Overlord, and his role was just to manage, advise, and soothe his fellow demons; the Heirarchy handed to them was something the Entha of the old demons had abided by, and they still don't comprehend its actual purpose. His voice reached all of the demons in the Kingdom of Enratas, some had calmed down and some were still in a state of panic, but those who had been assigned a task to govern a territory were burning with responsibility, the duke of De Val is an example, he quickly summoned his children in the capacious room used for receiving visitors.

The room was filled with silence and perplexity. The duke, together with Esteroth, Heather, Halen, and Elena, remained silent after I told them about my meeting with Entha, all the way up to Entha's decision to ally with the humans.

“I suppose your not lying Calix”

Said Father, with a voice filled with intimidation, He might be finding it hard to believe that the will of Azam had materialized and had presented itself to me, a demon who had sprung from Earth not more than 6 months ago,

“I am sure he’s not lying Father, those feeling of motivation when swinging my sword had disappeared”

“It does make sense I suppose, it is the same for me, but to ally with the humans is a bit”

Elena is correct; the idea of humans accepting us seemed improbable; Earth was littered with deceitful depictions of demons, and some people were even afraid to simply utter the names of individuals they believed to be demons.

“Even I had lost the anticipation for another summon”

Chimed Esteroth, she seemed relaxed but her fingers were obviously trembling

"Elena, my child, prepare for a teleport magical circle to the Capital; the rest of you, change into your armors; this is beyond me; we will be seeing the king and his Elders."

Announced Father with sweats on his forehead, I made my way to my room and fitted my armor, but before I could leave my room Anna stood by the door.
