Chapter 25: Aftermath

It was a sight to behold, Following the shockwave from Calix's fist, microscopic debris from the Arena's floor, which had been painstakingly made by the Kingdom's alchemist and is thought to be able to survive hits from Grandifs, flew around, like glitters glittering from the angel's lights coming from above… The demons, on the other hand, did not find the scene appealing; human-designed concretes were much more brittle than those created by the demon world's alchemist; a normal demon soldier could crush a human-designed concrete with ease, but would be unable to do so with the demon world's concretes, even the strongest; the Grandifs can dent it but not to the point of putting a hole in it;

“I’m… saved”

Mordo exhaled a sigh of relief; if he had absorbed that blow directly, his soul would have been crushed; it was only by his reflexes and Calix's passing out that he was able to avoid such an attack; nonetheless, freezing sweats and shivers filled his body as he envisioned Calix's fist burrowing into him.… Mordo grinned wryly and nodded as he slowly moved his sight to the King who was already staring at him.

‘I see, Mordo’s unharmed but…'

Thought the King as he assessed the health of both demons, Calix had been showing surprises after surprises throughout his arrival, the King who had previously been in the castle's library, still in doubt, was pondering and researching about Calix's origin, the disappearance of Entha and its materialization and had found nothing, in short he had hit a wall, thus, he went for a walk and, like the others, was drawn in by the countless shockwaves, seeing a display of power beyond the capabilities of even a Grandif, The king had cast aside any doubts he had previously and had made the firm decision to nurture and fully support Calix... the one he believes is the demon's kingdom's savior,

“Heal Calix immediately and summon the dukes and the elders”

Ordered the King, the King's deep voice snapped back those who were in disbelief and had their drools dripping from their open jaws, such demons included the Grandifs Farrah and Alec, the amount of mana and the reckless technique of Calix were enough to burn their brains into trying to comprehend such phenomenon, but the sudden burst of mana from Calix's punch dealt the final blow and had finally toast both their brains black along with the demon alchemists, if not for the demon Kings order they would still be mindlessly staring at the hole created by Calix,

Farrah and Alec scurried to where Calix is laying face down looking at a closer distance it was made clear that along with the floor, Calix’s arm had been decimated leaving only a small chunk of flesh below his shoulder,

“Looks horrible”

Farrah whispered as she pressed the left over flesh beneath Calix's shoulder; she wasn't examining it, but rather it was a natural reaction of her body curious about how it felt.

“Well with that kind of attack, such thing would be expected, but I doubt it would actually worry him considering he was twisting his flesh mid battle you know”

Said Alec, who was reminded of Calix's painfully reckless fighting style and is also doing the same thing as Farrah not out of curiosity but because he was genuinely drawing a magical circle.

“Yeah it was actually surprising those twisting stuff…my soul would have surely been broken if I did gotten hit by that”

Said Mordo who was behind them, to which reflexively both Farrah and Alec turned to look behind and narrowed their eyes,

“Wont you deserve it, you took it too far”

Grumble Farrah but yet again in a form of whisper, the simple bout had elevated to a brutal savage battle, no one was willing to stop them as they too were curious of Calix’s ability in terms of combat, but considering the amount of experience Calix and Mordo has, it was Mordo’s responsibility to exercise caution not to harm and get harmed excessively and should have stopped when Calix had thrown away his sword, which made the battle not of sword fight but that of savage beasts.

“Well what could I say, it was the best fight I ever had”

It was a reason that made both Alec and Farrah sigh, they shooed Mordo and instead focused on healing Calix arm,

“Wa- wait, won’t you heal me? I'm out of mana too, you know”

“No, now get lost”

“How is he?”

The three instinctively turned to look where the familiar voice came from and there stood Duke Areath holding a child, the duke always had this frightening deep loud voice but to think that he would truly be able to transmit such caring voice made them choke in laughter.

“To think the rumors were true that the frightening behemoth instructor is actually a doting father”

Teased Alec, but his laughter abruptly stopped when the Duke had creased his eyebrows and was obviously not in a mood for laughing,

“Right I’m sorry about that, Calix is fine”

Continued Alec,

“I see thanks”

Said Areath, as he slowly shifted his Gaze to Mordo who had been slowly backing off and was tiptoeing behind Farrah,

“Mordo you’ve improved, might I interest you for a bout next time”

“About that Sir Areath I’m kinda busy after this…yup I’m surely busy”

Mordo adamantly decline with a shaking voice and swimming pupils as he scratch the back of his head and forced a smile,

“I’m sure you’ll have some free time”

“Haha no I don’t think ill have such time, Oh that’s right the king summoned us, then…I’ll be on my way”

Said Mordo before he made a break for it,

Farrah and Alec had finished healing Calix and had prepared to carry Calix to a nearby room, but stopped at the gaze of the young Anna,

“Can I come with you?”

Anna requested, to which the both of them nodded vehemently especially Farrah, who instantly carried Anna in both of her arms and rubbed her cheeks on the meek child,

“Children’s really are cute, is Calix your father?”

Asked Farrah, but no response came from Anna who had tears welling up her eyes the entire time,

“Your father is fine, he just needs to rest for a bit”

She continued as they made their way to one of the empty quarters in the Castle,
