Two things happened following the Downing Street statement. One, Mandy and Martin got their act together, Mandy regaining her sense of humour, tinged only with the sadness over Wilf. Two, the press and TV units overtook Jack in getting to Buckingham Palace, the news editors panicked into getting more coverage for the ceremony and outside the gates.
As it was a nice day, Jack and Mike walked through St James’s Park. Mike objected, his clothes were torn and Mackeroon didn’t have a black priest’s suit, but eventually adopted Mandy's give a toss philosophy which he found remarkably liberating.
