Chapter 4

The farce at the party gave me my first taste of the wonders of revenge. Lucien woke me up early in the morning. He looked me up and down with that usual critical eye and frowned, "My Lucien's woman can't be dressed like this." I sneered in my mind. Was he planning to use money to package his girlfriend again? However, just what I wanted. "Let's go, take you to buy some suitable clothes." He picked up the car keys, his tone unquestionable. The top luxury name store in the city center was opulent. It's a narrow street, just as we walked into the VIP room, we saw Serena alone picking out a perfume. Seeing us come in, Serena's face first flashed a trace of surprise, followed by a deeper resentment and provocation in her eyes. She deliberately picked up a bottle of perfume, not spraying it in the air, but spraying it straight towards her wrists and the side of her neck, and the rich and sweet aroma instantly filled the whole space like a weapon - it was the same one that she used to love to wear when she was dating Damian! She walked towards us with a fake smile on her face like a victor, "Lucien, Norah, what a coincidence. I just spotted this latest Flower of Desire, doesn't it smell amazing?" With these words, she was using her signature flavor to declare her presence and so-called victory to me. Lucien's brows furrowed slightly, as if he was very displeased with the strong scent. As I watched Serena get closer and closer, a diabolical yet perfect plan instantly took shape in my mind. Just as Serena was about to enthusiastically go up and take my arm, I suddenly bounced backward as if I had been stung by a scorpion and ducked behind Lucien. Immediately afterward, I started coughing violently, one more violent than the other, as if I was going to cough my lungs out in the next second. "Cough ...... cough cough!" I covered my mouth, my body shaking uncontrollably from the violent coughing. "Norah! What's wrong with you?" Lucien immediately tensed up and held my shaking body. Serena's smile froze on her face as she looked at me in dismay. I looked up, a small face red from coughing, my eyes instantly filled with physiological tears, looking incredibly vulnerable and pathetic. I pointed at Serena, my voice breaking with horror and disgust, "It's that she smells so bad, I can't breathe." After saying that, I looked like I couldn't support myself any longer, and directly dry-heaved in his arms! "Vom-" This dry-heaving sound was like the loudest slap, slapping Serena's face hard! The entire VIP room was instantly dead silent! All the shopkeepers and other guests looked at Serena with a look as if they had seen a ghost, as if she were some kind of walking biochemical weapon! "You're bullshitting me!" Serena's face instantly turned into a pig's liver color as she shrilly shouted, "This perfume is ......" "Get out!" Lucien snapped his head up, unprecedented anger and murderous aura erupting in his eyes as he yelled at the store manager, "Throw this woman who sprayed poison out of here! If anything happens to my wife, I will make your entire brand disappear from this city!" "The woman who sprayed poison." "My wife." Lucien had directly characterized Serena's behavior and used the term "my wife" to lock us into a relationship! The store manager had to be out of his mind and immediately rushed over with several security guards and made a pleading gesture to the pale Serena. "I'm not! I'm not!" Serena completely collapsed as she tried to defend herself, but any explanation she gave paled in the face of the fact that I was severely allergic. In the end, Serena was politely escorted out by the security guards like a plague amidst the scornful and evasive stares of the crowd. I slumped into Lucien's arms, my body still shivering, while out of the corner of my eye I watched Serena's woefully departing back with satisfaction. Back at the apartment, my allergies disappeared immediately. Lucien pressed me against the back of the door, his eyes looking at me with a deep look of both hindsight and inquiry, "Did you just fake it?" I avoided his overly hot gaze and stiffened my mouth, "I just didn't feel comfortable with that smell." Lucien laughed lowly, a laugh filled with certainty and a hint of danger. He suddenly lowered his head, his warm breath spraying the contours of my ear, and said in a voice so husky it was shuddering, "I like the way you look like a little wildcat who can bite." My body tingles uncontrollably at his words and the tight masculine scent. He gently grips my wrist, which still wears the one-of-a-kind Morning Heart from last night's party, and rubs his fingers over the diamond 'N'. "Lucien," I finally mustered up the courage to ask the question that had been weighing on my mind in a confused tone that fit my amnesiac persona, "When did you order this bracelet for me? I don't have any impression at all." He gazed at the bracelet, his eyes flashed with a complex emotion of nostalgia and bitterness, but it was quickly covered up with his usual playfulness. He looked up at me with a burning gaze, "A long time ago. Before your accident." He paused, as if remembering something, a hint of self-deprecation and tenderness in his eyes, "I remember when you were always following Damian around, quiet as a shadow, always saying you didn't shine enough. That's why I wanted to give you a unique gift, to let you know how precious you are in my eyes." "N, for Norah, and also for The One and Only. I had wanted to give it to you when you got engaged. It's just a shame that you forgot about me before this surprise could be delivered." His tone had just the right hint of 'hurt' and 'regret' in it, but more than that, it was an imperious dominance. "But it's okay," he quirked his lips and moved closer, the tip of his nose almost touching mine, "it's not too late to put it on. It's good to forget the past; from now on, I'll be the only one in your memory."
