I've almost given up hope when Sean finally takes a gasping breath, and the blue fades from his lips, color returning to his face. "f**k, Sean, I thought I lost you there." I pull my legs up, wrapping my left arm around my knees since my right arm refuses to cooperate. Tears stream down my face, uncontrollable.
Sean coughs violently, struggling to sit up. If I weren't right beside him, catching and supporting him, he'd have toppled over from dizziness. "What happened, Cory? There was another earthquake, and then everything just went black." His eyes blink in confusion as he clutches his chest, like an elephant had stomped on it.
I wipe my eyes and help him to his feet. "A whole house came down on top of us, so I guess we were kind of lucky."
