*Amelia* I’m feeling a rush of happiness about my performance on TV this morning as I pack up my things, excitement bubbling inside me at the thought of driving down to San Diego to be with Cory. Suddenly, I hear a low rumble that grows rapidly into a deafening roar. My heart races; is it thunder? But then the ground beneath me feels like it expands, like the entire building is being thrown into the air before crashing back down with a bone-shaking force. It’s like a giant hand has wrapped around me, yanking me to the ground and pinning me there. The earth isn’t just shaking; it’s writhing, convulsing as if in agony. I can feel the panic rising within me, cold and sharp. This is wrong. I’m going to die, and all I can think about is Cory… his laugh, the way his eyes light up when he sees
