A werewolf heals fast. In fact, eighty percent of the time, we feel the pain of the wound and the healing process at the same time. And it's usually over within a minute or five if the wound is very deep. So of course I expected to pull out the knife and start healing fast enough to manage to walk to the bus station which was a few feet in front of me.
I yanked on the hilt. It didn't give. It was buried very deep. Literally to the hilt. I yanked harder and it came free. It hurt like mad and I gnashed my teeth together trying not to make a sound and draw attention to myself.
I was not prepared for what happened next.
