CHAPTER ONE : facing the music

One morning the sun was rising and the mist was dominating the forest and made it look like a haunted forest. The silence was broke down by the twitting and singing of the birds. At a distance, an indistinct chatter and splashing of water downstream were made by two boys. The galloping of horses was heard and scared the birds away. The boys got off the water and dried themselves. No sooner had they finished than the horses reached.

The king looked at them and got off the horse. He looked at one of the boys and said,”What are you doing Prince Zain? Are u supposed to be training? What are… if I get to the castle before you are going to face the music young man “

“Where is my horse?  Said, prince Zain

“The way you came is the way you are going back and to get myself clear let me no get there before you,” He said as he fled the castle.

Prince Zain waved to his friend goodbye and fled . He rushed but was not able to reach his father's expectations. He reached to the castle dog tired. He reached the throne and found him seated.

“Kneel down and I do not need any explanation. Guards  whip him he needs to learn a lesson “said the king

The guards beside the king's throne reached to him and whipped him. Every whip became more and more painful as they hit his back. He screamed and mourned helplessly and his mourning echoed in the empty hall.

The queen came to the throne and said “what are you doing Marcus you want the child to die we talked about this “she said as she walked towards her son.

The king chuckled and said “woman you are making the heir of this throne weak  how is he going to protect the kingdom if he is as soft as butter “

“Spare him he is only fifteen years Let the child be,” said the queen and took his son and leading him to his room.”

“Wait I found him with the village boy, “said the king .the queen just looked at him and left with his son
