Alaric's POV
"I wouldn't want to bother Lily," I defended.
"You're not bothering me, Alaric. Besides, we can get to spend more time together. I've missed you," Lily said, and I paused as I stared at her, almost like she had said something she wasn't supposed to say. She withdrew her gaze from me, and I blinked away the hardness. I was riled up for a moment there.
"You heard that. Your fiancée misses you, and I'm starting to feel the disconnect from you two. You need to spend time together," Mum pressed further. She was really taking up this matter seriously, and I was starting to get stressed about it.
"You know I can't afford that right now," I said, hoping for her to reason with me.
"You need a break from all the work, Alaric." I was wrong; Mum was thinking anticlockwise
