Sasha made sure she fixed her eyes on Zed, and also made sure Zed stared at her back. This troubles Zed. He never imagined that he would be between two families. Yesterday, Sasha had texted Zed not to say a word about Angelo being white wolves, if he does, she might just hate me forever. He is not bothered about Sasha hating him -- Zed has a futuristic attitude about life. Right now, he doesn't want to lie to Lucia, and he also doesn't want to tell the truth. "Damn!" He cursed.
Lucia stared at Zed as if she could read the answers in his eyes. Jarek was lost in what was happening around him, this is the second time this was happening to him. The first time was when Sasha and Angelo had a fight, and Zed muttered some words that Jarek had forgotten about, but it really bothered him, and he felt totally out of place. Again, right now, he is feeling out of place.
"What is happening?" Jarek whispered to Sasha. Zed had taught him how to whisper under his breath, it is not like he hasn't done it before, but it looks really cool when Zed does it.
Zed gave the last punch, last breath as he said those words that would keep some people calm. "Brown… it was brown."
Jarek could hear the words "Brown…" Brown? What could have disturbed Sasha's mother to find her way here just to ask some brown dumbshit. He watched as Lucia stood upright still staring at Zed. Lucia looked at her daughter, and Sasha stared right back at her. "Is there some reunion s**t going on here? Is Zed part of their family? No it can't… It can never be, I will kill him before he can become part of them." Jarek's thoughts went really wild till he forgot they had all left him standing alone. Lucia had gone back, and his friends were about to go to their class. Angelo's call woke him up from his misery.
"Why are you still standing there? Have you seen a ghost?"
Jarek joined them as they walked into class. "Did you bring that your terrible water?" Jarek asked Max who was coming behind him.
Max smirked and replied with utmost sarcasm. "Lol I wish I did. Maybe you'd rub your tongues again today."
Ethics is one subject Jarek would forever hate. "Why teach ethics though?" Is one question he would always ask himself every time. Bad things exist more than good things. He believed Ethics is one way to limit good people to doing bad things, and bad people to inflict pain and misery to every good person. And what baffles him the most is that they always get what they want.
He watched the Ethics teacher as she blabbed her mouth. For over one hour, Jarek had been receiving lectures from his mind, and kept the teacher's words mute and that mind made him raise up his hand to ask a question. The teacher noticed Jarek's hand.
"What colour is today's trouble?" Sasha, and most students asked themselves without saying anything, but looking at Jarek who was too excited to drop this question.
"What is it, Jarek?" The teacher asked, hoping Jarek would act cool, and ask a question within his brain faculty.
"Why can't good people be above the law? I mean, both good and bad people are under the law, what if good people are placed above the law, and mistakenly they did something unreasonable, would they be judged? I heard Queen Elizabeth is above the law, now imagine if she kills you. Would they punish her?"
This is a bomb, and everyone is calm physically, but deep down, chaos is about to rule their territory, and there is nothing they can do about it, except the bell helped them out, but the bell is far from being rung right now.
The teacher stared at Jarek. Jarek left her speechless, and everyone quite expected it. Then a little voice, sounding like an angel spoke out, standing up from her seat. Sasha looked up to the girl beside her who stood up like she'd poop if she stood up hastily.
The students stared at Cassy. "Can I answer the question?" Cassy asked again.
The pause. "Yes, you can Cassy."
Cassy cleared her throat. "Being above the law, yes you can act like you want, do whatever you want, but before you can be placed above the law, you must have attained something no man can… I don't know, but if she was caught killing, she would go to jail for it, but there must be a reason she had killed someone." Cassy answered and sat down like she had won some gold medals. Again she stood up, and faced Jarek. "Don't wish our teacher bad. Why would she die?"
Jarek scoffed. "What do you know? I never wished her bad. I was just citing an example." Jarek explained.
"Okay Okay you guys should calm down." The teacher made sure everything was calm, then she asked Jarek. "Did she answer your question?"
Jarek stared at the teacher, then at Cassy. He doesn't want to admit to the fact that Cassy had answered his question perfectly well. He struggled within himself to say yes, until Sasha opened the way.
"Just say yes."
Jarek stared at Sasha, giving her a look that said, "I will make sure I injure you after this class."
Jarek stared at the teacher. "Yes Ma." And he sat down, and they continued the class.
Alde was busy at work, he didn't have the time to think about what had happened yesterday, or thinking that Karen was his ex-wife. He was just focused on work. Lukas called out to him, but he totally ignored because he knew what Lukas was about to discuss with him - He wasn't ready to say anything concerning that. Then, his thoughts went directly to Griffin. "Griffin…How is he?" He asked himself. Griffin and Alde used to be two best friends from two different worlds. They did everything together, and they both knew each other's secrets. He missed him, and his feelings can't deny it as he smiled sheepishly.
Lukas stared at him. "What went into him today?"
Kyla was beside her car, thinking of going to The Pentagon to explain her thoughts to Hugo, or to Askarvard Magazines to see Alde, and ask him some questions. She decided to place her fate on a coin. She took the coin from her ripped jeans back pocket. "Okay, if it is a head, I'm going to see One, and if it is the tail, I will be heading to Askarvard Magazines right now." With this she flipped the coin, and it was the tail. "Alde, here I come." She entered her car, and zoomed off.
As she drove maintaining 60km/h. She saw Dylan on the roadside. "Is this not Dylan?" She asked herself.
Dylan was talking to Boaz about the roar yesterday. Boaz explained to him that no one was killed or injured. Dylan's heart was put to rest at the moment. Kyla parked her car a few metres away from Dylan. She came out of her car, and Dylan was surprised to see her, so is Boaz.
"What are you doing here?" Dylan asked as he gave Kyla a warm hug.
"I am going over to see Alde." She responded.
"Who is Alde?" Boaz asked.
"Alde was the Alpha's best friend back then. I don't know about it now." She replied.
"Why are you going to his place?"
"Place of work."
"Okay, place of work."
Kyla explained how she had given Edward a portion, and how Alde had drunk it. Dylan seemed a little bit confused and asked her why she would visit Alde. "Alde is human." Dylan said.
Kyla entered another phase of explanation. "Yes, he is. But, eight years ago, Griffin had given Alde his blood to drink, but nothing happened. And it is always unusual for something not to happen. It is either you are a wolf or a lycan or worst case, dead.
"Then are you saying Alde might be the beast?" Dylan asked, hoping he was.
"Yes, he might. I will have to confirm."
"You think he is just going to tell you that he is the beast?"
"I have my ways, Boaz."
"Okay, I will trust you."
"If you don't mind, I need to go."
"Alright Kyla." They both said.
Kyla entered her car and zoomed off.
Alde was less busy. He shuffled some documents into themselves, and placed them inside a shelf. Lukas finally found a time to ask him some questions regarding his attitude today, and the scribblings on the wall of each main street in Askarvard.
"Hey what's up?"
"Yeah Lukas hi."
"What's up with you?"
"What's up with me?"
"You have been acting weird since the beginning of today."
"Me?"
"Yes you. Tell me. Have you found some golden secrets and you don't want to share it with me?"
"Golden secrets? About the novel?"
"Yes… Passa City, and the rest… Ooh yes, and Tesla!"
"If I had I would have let you know."
"Don't you dare research without letting me know."
"Alright, I won't"
Lukas pushed his rolling chair back to his seat and continued what he was doing. "Humans and curiosity." Alde thought, shaking his head as he arranged the remaining documents on his desk, putting it in his drawer.
"Alde…" One of the staff called out from the door.
"Hey Josh."
"Someone wants to see you outside."
"Who? My wife?"
"No. A woman, beautiful, but with a scar on one side of her face."
No clue who that is, but he managed to tell Josh, "At your tail."
Josh left, and Alde stood up. "I'll be right back." Alde told Lukas.
"Okay." Lukas responded.
Alde made sure he was keeping an eye on Josh who was leading the way. After two turns, and a few seconds of walking on the main hallway. Josh stood in front of Kyla, and Alde went over to meet them.
"Here." Josh said, directing his hand to Kyla.
"Thank you, " Kyla said.
"You are welcome." Josh left both of them.
Alde stared at Kyla, thinking of where they had met, but nothing came to mind.
"Do I know you?" Alde asked.
"I don't think you do." Sasha replied.
"So, why are you here? Why do you want to see me?"
"You and Griffin have been best friends since when?"
That question seems to ask Alde. "Who is she?"
The pause. "I don't know, but it has been a while now. Couple of years." Alde felt relieved by his answers.
"Okay. Griffin gave his blood to you, maybe you'd become someone supernatural or some sort." Kyla asked.
The pause, lasting longer than before, then the reply. "Yes, he did. Any problem?"
"Do you know who Griffin is?"
"Griffin is my friend."
"I know, thanks for reminding me. I mean, do you know if he was a superhuman."
"Superhuman? Hilarious." Alde laughed.
Kyla watched him as he laughed. "We are being serious here, and everything is at stake."
Alde sees that she is getting serious, and he is her suspect, maybe first suspect, but why would she? I'm not the only one that a werewolf had given blood to drink. Why is she pestering me? Alde managed to keep his cool as he stared at Kyla.
"You are human right?"
"Yes, I am."
"What do you know about vampires and werewolves?"
Alde knew where she was going, so he decided to play along. "I don't believe in them. If they exist, then I would have become one."
Kyla saw if she keeps this up, she might waste her entire day interrogating a man that will never confess. "You drank the water Edward's son brought to school yesterday. Did you?" Kyla asked.
"Who is Edward? And who is his son?"
"Edward Garrison. Max Garrison, your son's mate."
"Ooh Max." Alde nodded. "Yes, I drank it. Even my son did." Alde responded.
"The portion is to boost any supernatural power you have inside of you. I gave this portion to Edward and his son and from my knowledge you and your son took it."
"Yes, we did. Any problem?"
"Yes, there is. When you took it. That very night we heard a roar, and the last time we heard that was 8 years ago. A beast killed more than six people, and zoom! We did not see it again. Karen was your wife then, she is a First-Order, I know she found her way around to make sure you keep that beast of yours inside." Alde watched Kyla as she talked. "Suddenly, Griffin didn't hear from you, I never saw you with Karen, and you didn't remember me. Don't you remember that you were the one that gave me this scar when Karen and I got into a fight in the lab?" Alde stared at her disfigured face as she pointed to it. "You did this Alde, you did this. And it hurt when you did not even come to apologize."
"You caused it. You started the fight." Alde countered.
"You think?"
The pause… "Anyways, I am here to ask you. Where were you at 9PM yesterday night?"
"Me?" Alde asked.
"Yes."
"Why will you worry about my personal life?"
"It is a matter of national security."
"I was in my bed, sleeping soundly with my wife. Any problem."
"No. Can you call your wife so that I can confirm?"
"I just told you where I was. Did you need to ask my wife?"
"I need to be sure if you are the beast or not."
"Someone said it is a Lycan, not a beast." Alde said.
"Thanks for the reminder." Kyla snared.
Alde brought out his phone to call Vanessa, and all this while, Lukas was watching and listening to the conversation between Alde and Kyla.
"Lycan? Beast? Werewolf? Vampire? Do they really exist?" He asked, and he answered himself. "Yes." He furthered, asking himself again. "What about here in Askarvard?" The pause, the ransacking. As if he had gotten the shock of his life, he placed his hands on his mouth. "No way." He whispered.
Ring! Ring!! Ring!!! Alde's phone rang as he called Vanessa's number and the air was intensified, and finally the breakthrough - Vanessa answered.
"Hey love."
