Lucy, the Beta of the Mega Clan looked up to Hugo. The pause. "I don't think Alde is responsible for the deaths that happened eight years ago. I don't know about this though."
"Why do you think so? He drank out of Griffin's blood," Hugo countered.
"Yes, he drank out of my blood, who knows how many humans would have drank from other werewolves?" Griffin said.
"That's the point." Hugo nodded. "How do we find this criminal?" Hugo asked.
"You mean the beast?" Silvester, The Omega asked, and Vivian, the Luna jabbed him real hard. "What!?" Silvester shouted under his breath.
Kyla sat comfortably on the biggest single couch in the living room. She rested her head, making sure she was staring at the ceilings in the room. Few seconds later, she sighed. "I said it. Kyla dreams are always prophecies." She boasted.
She picked up her phone, and dialled Edward's contact number. He picked on the fourth ring.
"Hi Kyla… I know this is no good news, but hurry."
"Are you planning on going after this thing tonight?"
"Yes, sure. That's my work -- To protect the humans."
"What if it attacks us?"
"I will consider."
Kyla smiled. "Don't go tonight." She said,
"Why?"
"Let's see how many the beast would kill. Last time, only vampires were killed, let's watch tonight's."
"Are you sure?"
"Yes, sure. Let us be aware of what this one is after."
"Alright."
"How is the portion? Did Max take it?"
"I did not bother. But, I'm sure he did." Edward replied. "Max!" He called out, and Max answered once.
"Yes Dad?"
"Did you take your water today?"
"I didn't. Angelo, Jarek, Karen and Jarek's father took it. They said it wasn't water, it didn't taste like one." Max imitated the looks they wore after drinking the water.
Kyla listened to the conversation between Edward and Max. Kyla's thoughts ran riot. "You mean Jarek, his father, Angelo, and Karen took it?" Kyla asked, Edward transferred the question to his son, and Max answered, "Yes… they did."
"Alright." Before Edward could say anything Kyla hung up.
"What's wrong?" Max asked his father.
"The sound you and I vividly heard."
"How about it?"
"That roar is made by a beast who has killed over ten people in Askarvard."
"When did this happen?"
"Eight years ago."
Kyla dropped the phone on the nearest stool. 'Can Alde be the beast? The portion she gave Edward was to make him develop his supernatural ability, and if Alde had drunk it, that means he would be...the beast.' 'Don't come to conclusions, Kyla.' She slapped her head several times. "Damn! This is eating me up." She said,
The show Jarek was watching just ended. He turned off the TV. "Where is Dad?"
"He is still out."
"I am going to bed." He looked at the wall clock. "Wow it is past 9!"
"That means you need to be in bed."
"Yes Mom. Goodnight."
"Alright love. Sleep tight."
Jarek went into his room, and Vanessa just gazed through the window expecting Alde to show up, but he didn't. "Where are you Alde?" She whispered.
Sasha being troubled by the scene she watched some minutes ago. "Aiish.." She lay low like a log of wood, and hoped sleep would sweep her off her feet. Lucia slightly opened Sasha's door, wanting to see if she was asleep. After checking, she closed it back silently, and went back to the sitting room.
"Why is it brown?" She thought.
Lucia was expecting Angelo to be a white wolf, because he shifted a little too late. At the age of five, kids would have been showing signs of shifting, and when they are seven, they would shift into their wolf form, but Angelo is different, he didn't show any sign of shifting, and he is 8, and he is just shifting. "Even my daughter had shifted." She thought.
Sasha shifted when she was six, pretty early right?
Which brings us to this - There are four types of werewolves, one is the Lycan; Lycans came into existence when the first generation of werewolves gave a human to drink of their blood, the aftermath was a disaster -- the human turned into a beast, more bigger than any werewolf, and they name them Lycans. Lycans can't infect another, they kill you even though they have the intention of making you one of theirs. Next is The Blacks, they are second to the strongest among other werewolf types, that's Hugo's race, they are born leaders. Next is The Switchers. The Switchers as their name implies - They can switch off their wolf forms, making them completely human. Other werewolves can't perceive them, and are mostly underrated because they smell like humans, and in strength they are third to The Blacks. The switchers were used during the fight between the Vampires. Vampires too can get the scent of a werewolf, but not for The Switchers. Lastly, The White wolves - The white wolves are the strongest of all. Completely white, faster, stronger, having a great sense of smell, but they can't tell between a switcher and a human.
Lucia hopes Angelo is not a white wolf because if he is, and has learnt of the m******e that happened to his family, he will surely create havoc in Askarvard. With this on her mind she slept off.
At last, a figure showed up down the street. Vanessa stood up hoping he was Alde. The figure came closer, and closer, it was Alde. Vanessa hurriedly left the house… she had so many questions to ask. Alde saw Vanessa, asked about Jarek, and Vanessa said he had gone to bed. Vanessa noticed the smell on his body, and figured that he was not wearing anything except his trouser that had been converted to tattered shorts.
"Where have you been?" Vanessa asked.
"Went out."
"And your clothes are all torn?" Vanessa pressured, hoping some truth will fall from him.
"Took a walk Vanessa." Alde said, and walked inside and Vanessa watched him talk the stairs into the house.
"Your food will soon get cold. Come on before it goes cold."
Alde sat in the dining room, and Vanessa served him. "You will shower after this." Vanessa said, and he nodded, munching the rice before him.
After the meal, Alde showered, and they both went to bed. Before that, they had gone to Jarek's room, and made sure he was sleeping well -- They collected the story book in his hands, it was the book Alde always reads to him before he sleeps, titled 'Caesar, The Tribrid.' Alde stared at the book, and Vanessa watched him closely.
"This book is real." Alde said.
"No, it isn't." Vanessa protested.
Alde looked at Vanessa. "Don't fool me. I'm the beast that killed people eight years ago."
Vanessa was shocked, her greatest nightmare came to pass, and everything in her mind was clouded with bad thoughts. "What if he can't control himself?"
"My greed brought me to this." He blames himself.
"Don't say that. I'm sure with time you will control it." Vanessa assured.
"Before then, I would be long gone."
Vanessa sighed. "Hope it won't come to that."
Kyla looked at the half moon. "In a few days, destruction would be the only thing we would all know in Askarvard if we don't find this beast."
"You can say, A Lycan." Samad said. "I have seen it with my eyes. It is very rare to see a Lycan. That means a 'turn-to-werewolf stunt went wrong." Samad continued.
"You saw it?" Kyla asked again just to be sure.
"Yes," Samad replied.
Samad took his seat close to where Kyla was. "My father led the werewolf army that killed every Lycan in our city."
"Why?"
"They can't control themselves. Especially when it is a full moon. They kill anything on sight." Samad stood up to join Kyla by the window side. "Eight years ago, this was exactly what happened, but we were lucky enough that -- I don't know how the killing stopped, but I hope the killing would stop like how it did eight years ago."
"8 years ago, it was a half moon too."
"Yes, correct. If it had not been stopped, death awaits all of us. The vampires first, then you werewolves who made them like that. Maybe he is going to spare the humans." Samad said, standing up to leave.
"Is it hereditary?" Kyla asked before Samad exited the door.
"Thank goodness it is not. Like how we Vampires can't give birth, they too can't bear children that would be a Lycan. God knows if it was hereditary, He would need to say bye bye to this world.* With these words Samad exited the room, and Kyla watched him go.
Kyla stared at the moon once again, and gave a deep sigh. "God knows what he wants." She whispered. "Did God really create all these?" Kyla asked silently.
"I don't think so." Samad shot his head out. "The God the humans serve is just and true and he has nothing to do with violence."
"Humans are more violent than us. Even more greedy."
"A point. Anyways, let us all prepare for death." Samad said and went away.
"You are immortal." Kyla said.
"Not until they remove my head from my body!" Samad shouted.
