The Garrison's family were about finishing up their meal when Edward received a call. He stared at the screen of his phone, and turned his face to Max's stepmother.
"They are calling you again right?" She asked.
"You think?" Edward responded.
Max just stared at both of them.
"Dad, we know it is regarding work, why don't you leave?" Max said.
Edward stared at Max, and then his step mother. He stood up from his seat.
"I hope one day, everything will be okay with us," He said, and left their presence.
Max sighed, stood up, and packed the plates.
"Thanks for the meal," Max thanked his stepmother who just watched Edward leave his room, and exit the entrance.
Max packed the plates to the kitchen when he didn't get any reply.
Angelo and Sasha walked quietly into the woods. They went a little bit far into the woods. Angelo looked back, and could not see any houses again.
"I hope you know where we are going," Angelo said.
"Sure, I just want to make sure we make use of our time well," Sasha replied.
They walked a little bit more, and landed in front of a big pond.
"When did you learn that there is a pond here?" Angelo asked.
"Since when I was 5. My mother brings me here twice a week to keep calm. Work has kept her busy, so she is too busy to come," Sasha responded, and Angelo nodded his head.
They both sat down at the edge of the pond. Angelo looked around. The pond was surrounded by trees. Sasha noticed that he looked uncomfortable.
"We are safe here,"
Angelo stared at Sasha knowing that he had been caught fearing.
"I know, I am just surprised that somewhere beautiful, and still like this can be in Askarvard,"
Another round of silence grew between them again until Sasha spoke up.
"What's up with you lately?" Sasha asked.
"What do you mean?" Angelo responded.
Sasha turned, looking at Angelo.
"Earlier, you felt really angry. What's up?"
"Ooh that," Angelo felt relaxed.
"Tell me… What is it?" Sasha asked curiously.
"Nothing much,"
"You don't want to tell me now?"
Sasha stood up fuming in anger…
"I know that's fake," Angelo scowled.
Sasha felt defeated, "Just tell me, I'm your friend right?"
Angelo nodded his head, and stared aimlessly at the pond.
"Don't tell anyone," Angelo warned, and Sasha nodded. "I think I'm a white wolf,"
Sasha looked surprised, and she sat down back to look at Angelo at eye level as she listened attentively.
"But, my parents were murdered, and they named it a mass suicide,"
"Oops. Sorry,"
"It is not your fault,"
"Do you know who is behind it?"
"I don't… I will have to find out soon,"
"If they were murdered, that means they must not be aware that you are alive,"
"I know right.. that's why I want you to keep it a secret for the time being,"
"Sure, I will,"
"Thank you Sasha,"
"You welcome,"
Edward walked past the Sharia Tanna main gate. Edward fed his eyes with the loneliness of the environment.
"If this place is a person, that person would die of depression," He thought.
"Who are you looking for, young man?" The gatekeeper who had left the gate to do something elsewhere asked Edward.
Edward looked back at who was talking to him.
"Kyla called me here,"
"She is inside,"
"I have not seen your face here before. Are you new?"
"Yeah, I came here couple of weeks ago,"
"Okay,"
Edward stopped the conversation, turned around heading inside the mansion a few metres ahead, then he met Kyla on the way.
Kyla was standing staring at Edward and the gatekeeper. As soon as Edward turned around… She smiled.
"It has been a while, Edward,"
Edward stared at Kyla, returning the smile.
"I know right. How have you been?, Kyla,"
"Been good enough for you to ignore me for 7years,"
"Stop with the sarcasm Kyla,"
"I love how you call my name,"
"I was expecting that,"
"Come in! There is something you need to know,"
They both entered.
"I had a dream yesterday,"
They stared at themselves in silence.
"Spill, don't keep me curious," Edward said.
Kyla went over to the shelf, and picked up a bottle…
"Sancho! Take this to Pessa," She gave the bottle to the little boy. "Tell her to include it in the portion," Kyla ordered.
"Okay," Sancho replied.
"So, what's the dream,"
"The dreadful days that happened 8years ago… It will start again,"
"How sure are you?"
"My dreams doesn't lie,"
Edward pinched his nose as he sniffed in...
"What are we going to do now?"
"You need to be renewed, and be prepared for what is coming,"
"Wait... That means you will sacrifice 12 witches?"
"No, not that... I will give you a portion, and that portion would strike the hunter in you,"
"Interesting,"
Kyla strolled through the corridor, and entered a larger room. She met four of her subordinates sitting down, and watching the fire.
"How is it going?" Kyla asked.
"We are waiting for the blue smoke," One of her subordinates replied.
Kyla and Edward went in...
They all stood up, and bowed towards Edward.
"Unless I forget, you are Pessa right?" Edward pointed at one of the girls standing on the other side.
The girl nodded her head, smiling...
Edward turned to Kyla. "Your girls are grown! You are really doing well," Edward commended.
"Don't flatter me Ed," Kyla responded.
Their discussion was discontinued when the flames from the fire turned blue. One of the girls shouted.
"Mistress! The flames!"
Kyla instructed one of the girls to pick up something from the other room, and one of them to pick up the small pot that was on the fire.
Kyla poured the content in the pot inside a container. The girl that was sent to the other room came inside with a bottle.
"Careful with that," Kyla said as she gave the container to Pessa.
Edward just watched as they ran helter-skelter. He watched how Kyla mixed the brownish content with red powder. She mixed it all together until the mixture became colourless.
Kyla poured the content into the bottle, and handed it over to Edward who stared at the content in the bottle with amazement.
"This is ---" He said looking at the bottle, then Kyla.
Kyla and the four girls watched Edward as he checked the bottle.
"Who would think this is not water," Edward scoffed. "How should I use it?" He asked.
Kyla folded her arms...
"Treat it as water. It contains the power to restore the supernatural abilities that you possess," Kyla said
"That means... If a human drinks it, it is just water?" Edward asked.
"Yes, it is,"
"Amazing,"
Kyla moved forward. She exited the room, and Edward followed.
"No matter the amount everything would be okay,"
"Even a drop can strike the supernatural in you,"
"Why do I have a full bottle!"
"Wouldn't it be creepy if I gave you half a bottle?"
"Ooh..."
Kyla saw Edward off. They reached the gates, and bade themselves goodbye.
"Jarek, won't you eat before your food gets cold?" Vanessa who was on the dining table lamented.
Jarek was busy watching SpongeBob SquarePants. Today was his lucky day. They had been showing different SpongeBob episodes since when he had changed the channel.
Vanessa was impatient. She stood up, took the remote, and turned off the TV. "Come and eat," Vanessa said.
Jarek grumbled. He shook himself up like an epileptic patient. "Mom! I will be done in 10minutes!" Jarek shouted.
Vanessa did not respond to his plight...
"Come over now, Son," Alde ordered.
"Dad..." Jarek said in a very low tone.
He walked sluggishly to the dining table. He sat down opposite his Mom.
"It is reported th--" Jarek said.
"Eat your food,"Vanessa cuts him off.
He made eye contact with his Mom...
"This is not how to treat your son," Jarek whispered enough to make Vanessa hear.
Vanessa stood up, picked up a clean spoon, charged towards Jarek, and hit his head with the spoon.
"I'm your mother," Vanessa said, and Jarek rubbed his head. Alde just smiled…
"This is how stillness of the soul looks like," Sasha told Angelo who stared at the still pond.
"Do humans too have this kind of feeling? Where there is just that inner peace within them," Angelo asked.
"I don't know... I'm not human. Why do you ask?" Sasha responded.
"Jarek..."
"What's with him?"
"He is always jovial, and it seems he doesn't have any problem at all. He is happy with his family, and they have everything they need. Why can't I live like that?"
"Angelo, you should be thankful that you are a special person,"
"Special person that would be killed if known?"
"I just know everyt--"
Sasha stopped talking as she heard a very fast movement of something she didn't know.
"Did you hear that?" She asked Angelo who was petrified as she was.
"I didn't," Angelo replied.
Sasha heard, and saw the sharp movement again. This time she saw the dry leaves blown up, and Angelo saw it this time.
"Are you thinking about what I'm thinking?" Sasha asked.
"What are you thinking?" Angelo asked.
"I think those are vamps!" She said,
Sasha stood up hurriedly...
"Let's go Angelo," She said.
Angelo stood up, dust his buttocks, and followed Sasha...
As they left the pond, someone in the woods wearing a hood sighted them as the kids took their leave. Another one showed up behind the first one.
"Did you think they saw us?" The one in front asked.
"I think so," The other one replied.
"What should we do?"
"Nothing… Master instructed us not to kill anyone,"
"I hope that doesn't stay forever,"
They both went their way when Sasha and Angelo were out of sight...
