CHAPTER TWENTY FOUR: THE PLAN

Dylan jabbed Jarek immediately he asked that question, and Jarek fainted.
"Why did you do that?" Karen asked.
"He obviously won't die?" Dylan said jokingly.
Two minutes later, Jarek woke up. Karen stared at him. She waited for him if he was going to ask another question, but Jarek didn't. Dylan looked at him, he concentrated his mind on Jarek's heartbeat - it was breathing normally like the humans. "How is this possible?" He asked himself, but Karen curiously asked.
"What are you talking about?"
"His heartbeat is the same as the humans."
Karen wanted to tell Dylan about Jarek's Mom, Vanessa, but at this moment she is trying to protect Jarek from any harm.
"So what's your conclusion?" Karen asked. "Is he normal or something is wrong?" Karen asked more specifically.
"I don't know Karen, I have never seen this type of case before." Dylan said truthfully.
"I saw it from faraway. He was bitten by a vampire, Boaz to be precise."
"Do you think he really bit him?"
"Yes, he did. But…"
"But what?"
Karen shifted Jarek's collar, showing where Boaz had bit him. "It is still there. The scar is not healing." Karen whispered, and Dylan came to check, and was surprised as Karen was.
"Why is he not healing?" Dylan returned the question back to Karen.
"I don't know." Karen answered.
Jarek watched them closely as they talked about him. "What are they saying?" He thought. Then he voiced out. "What's happening to me? Where am I?"
"You are at my place." Karen answered.
"Who are you?" Jarek asked.
"Who am I?" Karen became confused as well as Dylan.
Settling the issue right now, Karen and Dylan thought after Boaz had bitten Jarek, Jarek ought to be showing signs that concerns a vampire, and that includes, heart beating slower, and the pulse faster, but Jarek isn't showing any of the symptoms. Moreover, the bite isn't healing.
Karen could not hold it anymore - she took Dylan outside the room. She talked to Dylan about Jarek's Mom being a werewolf, as expected, Dylan was surprised, but Karen told him to keep it a secret in which he promised he would. Cassy entered to greet Jarek.
"Hi Jarek?"
"Who are you?"
That question took Cassy by surprise, she wanted to keep mute, but she can't. "I'm Cassy one of your best friends."
With his hearing aid, Dylan heard the conversation between Jarek and Cassy. "I think the boy have a memory loss."
"You think?"
"I know so. Your daughter just introduced herself to him."
"How did you know?"
"I'm a vampire, remember?"
Boaz was still inside the forest, but an unknown location. He was hiding from Dylan and the rest. He had instructed them to check what has been going on in Askarvard. Some vampires are out there without masters, but the few remaining left for Boaz, he sent them to check on the members of The Pentagon.
"I will start from the least, until I climb the ladder to the top." He said convincingly, and gave out his psychopathic laugh.
