Chapter 36: Name

1736 Words
“If you really know each other, then why is your friend still not coming out?” Fedrich asked. “Also… you…” he said, but didn’t continue. He wanted to ask Mhir why she is here and not talking to the Dream Weaver, or why she didn’t go with Leui. Mhir started. She looked at Fedrich and observed his expression before she guessed that he really doesn’t know anything with his question, and that he seems to not know everything about the Dream Weaver. “The Dream Weavers hate women.” She said before she paused. “All females, no matter which race.” She added. “Why?” Fedrich curiously asked. The Dream Weavers are female themselves, so why hate their fellow females? Mhir told Fedrich of Leui’s explanation before. “The Dream Weaver were originally humans.” She started. Fedrich nodded. He knows this. This is also the reason why the humans don’t hate the other races, particularly the monsters, since they know that they were once humans before and became monsters due to different reasons. Whether it was a mutation, or inheritance. Mutation is being an offspring between two races. On the other hand, inheritance is being an offspring of someone who mutated. And Dream Weavers are the latter, as well as most of the current monsters. “When there were wars before, the Giant Blue Spiders attacked a human village.” Mhir continued. “Then, the humans started to offer beautiful women to those Giant Blue Spiders and later had born cross-breeds.” She said. Fedrich fell into a silence. He really despises this method of keeping ‘peace’. Mhir noticed his silence. She knows that the Dream Weavers are the products of humans’ selfishness. Because they wanted to save themselves, they didn’t hesitate to sacrifice the others. This is also why Mhir is very sympathetic to the monsters. It wasn’t their choice to be born as one, or turn as one. It was forced on them by fate. She decided to skip this part. “Later, the men cross-breeds became evil and started to abduct women for reproduction while the women cross-breeds were being hunted down for breeding.” She said. “This stopped after the Great War ended. The men cross-breeds were killed and only the female cross-breeds were left.” She sighed. “In order to protect themselves, they contracted a powerful sorcerer to gain power to protect themselves. The sorcerer agreed in the condition that they should not harm people. Or else, they will pay a terrible price.” She looked at the darkness in front of them, which is the entrance to Nem’s domain. “But, now…” Fedrich spoke. Mhir didn’t react. She just answered Fedrich’s question earlier. “The wives of the men who were still after the Dream Weavers loathed the Dream Weavers.” She said. “The Dream Weavers wanted to get back to them, but they cannot harm the people. Thus, they started to hate their fellow women.” She explained. Fedrich heaved a deep sigh. Another example of being forced by fate. “This…” he muttered. Suddenly, they felt the ground shake. Then, they raised their heads to see that the entrance of the Dream Weaver’s domain was shaking! “Leui!” Mhir cried and felt scared for Leui. Leui still hasn’t come out of Nem’s domain! “LEUI!!!” she called and was about to run towards the entrance when Fedrich suddenly grabbed her hand and pulled her back. “What are you doing?!” she asked as she shook her hand off of Fedrich’s grasp. “It’s dangerous!” Fedrich told her and then turned to his subordinates. “Protect the people! Escort them back to their houses! Secure their safety!” he said. “Let go of me!” Mhir said as she tried to pull her hand back from Fedrich’s grasp. But, it was to no avail. Fedrich turned to her. “Go with them! I’ll bring your human friend back!” he told her as he pushed her to his subordinate. Mhir’s eyes widened. The subordinate was also startled. “Captain! What about you?” he asked when he caught Mhir. “I’ll bring her friend back and then follow after you. Don’t dally. Quickly leave!” Fedrich told him. “No!” Mhir cried. “Leui!!!” she cried. Although she felt that these humans are good, but it’s not enough for her to trust them. Humans are treacherous! She wasn’t joking earlier when she doubted Fedrich. She doesn’t trust his words! He can’t fool her! She is afraid that Fedrich might really not want to save Leui. Thus, she struggled from the subordinate’s grasp on her. But, Fedrich’s subordinate already carried her away. Although Fedrich’s subordinate is human and Mhir, a dwarf, is very heavy, they were trained as knights. Thus, he ran away while carrying Mhir over his shoulder, following the other knights protecting the escaping people and helping them up when some of them tripped because of the shaking ground. Fedrich sighed in relief when he saw their figures disappear in the distance. Then, he turned and looked at the gloomy-looking entrance of the Dream Weaver’s domain. He clutched the hilt of his sword before he walked towards it. “Let’s get started.” He muttered and took a step inside. … “They said that when I was born, my eyes were empty. However, they reflected the color of the trees, thus my eyes are as what they are now. My skin, that when I played when I was young, I got lost in the forest and a ghost has stolen my skin. They were afraid that my skin would bleed, that is why they didn’t paint my body. Thus, it looked like what it is now. My hair…” he said and paused as he pinched the ends of his platinum-colored hair and stared at it. “They said that the moon goddess cried when he saw my beauty one night. Then, her tears fell on my hair and…” he said and didn’t continue. He knew how ridiculous his story was. “That’s how I became different and the weakest in our race.” He told him. ‘him’? Leui thought as he looked at the beautiful male elf leaning on his embrace. ‘me’? Is he talking to me? Wait… he suddenly paused as he gazed at this breathtaking beauty in his arms who was smiling peacefully. Then, he suddenly felt his throat vibrate and a voice came out. “Hm.” ‘he’ hummed as ‘he’ held him in ‘his’ embrace. “Shall I name you?” ‘he’ softly asked the male elf. ‘his’ warm breath brushed the elf’s pointed ear, making the elf’s ears itch. Leui’s eyes widened in shock. Wait… this person speaking… is me? He thought. No. More precisely… I am in this person’s body. I… am seeing his memories? He thought as he looked at the long, platinum hair cascading on his arms. This beautiful male elf… is Tinum. He thought as he gazed at the side of Tinum’s face. So, Tinum is… Loheiruchel’s? They are a couple? But… Tinum is still alive… he thought. An elf’s ears are more sensitive than the humans, thus, after a moment and the elf’s ears reddened. The elf turned to the human and stared at ‘him’ for a long time before he spoke. “We, the elven race, were born with no names.” He said. Even when they married each other, there was no need to name themselves. Even when they reproduce, their children will have no name like themselves. That is why… “I don’t know what will happen if someone from another race would name me.” He said. ‘he’ looked at the elf. “Shall we see?” ‘he’ asked. His voice is so quiet it was almost a whisper. The elf’s heart skipped a beat. Then, a smile crossed his face and he nodded. “I trust you.” He softly said as he laid his head on the human’s arms. ‘his’ eyes darkened with passion as ‘he’ combed the elf’s platinum hair, exposing his nape. ‘his’ fingers caressed the elf’s sensitive weak spot. However, before the elf could react, ‘he’ leaned down and kissed the elf’s nape. “Tinum.” 'he' spoke and bit the elf’s nape. The elf shifted in the human’s embrace in surprise. He raised his head to look at the human, only for his lips to be met by the human’s lips. The elf’s eyes widened. Then, they slowly closed as the elf tasted the human’s lips. It was a sweet kiss for him. ‘he’ laid the elf down on the grass and embraced him. ‘his’ lips and hands are never leaving the elf’s body. The plants around them conscientiously closed and covered the area, giving the couple from two different races their sweet time. In the future, when ‘he’ ruled, the elves were given a rule that, when one from a different race gives an elf their name, it was treated to be a betrothal gift. Then, it was followed by a mating ceremony. A mark then will be left on the elf’s body, signifying their belongingness to the being of the other race. This was just an excuse of a certain human to what he did to the currently sweetly sleeping beautiful male elf.
