Thorne's mind reeled as the stranger's words hung in the air. The last living heir of the family who cast the curse? "What do you mean?" Thorne demanded, his voice shaking with emotion. "Why did your family cast the curse?" The stranger's eyes seemed to cloud over, lost in the past. "It was a power struggle, Thorne. A fight for control. My ancestors wanted to dominate Ravenswood, to rule with an iron fist." Thorne's anger flared. "And so they cursed my family? Innocent people?" The stranger nodded, their expression somber. "I know. It was wrong. But I want to make it right, Thorne. I want to help you break the curse." Thorne eyed the stranger warily. Could he trust them? Or was this just another trick? But something in the stranger's eyes made him hesitate. A glimmer of sincerity, of regret. "Okay," Thorne said finally. "I'll work with you. But if you're trying to deceive me..." The stranger's smile was wry. "I know. You'll make sure I pay for it." Together, they set out to unravel the secrets of the curse, to find a way to break its hold on Ravenswood. But as they dug deeper, they realized that the truth was far more complex than they ever imagined...
