Chapter 3: The Stranger's Secret

206 Words
The Stranger's Secret The stranger's food arrived, and they ate in silence, their eyes never leaving the room. Thorne watched them with a keen eye, trying to read their intentions. But the stranger's face was a mask, revealing nothing. As the night wore on, the tavern began to empty. Patrons said their goodbyes and headed home, casting nervous glances at the stranger. Thorne poured himself a mug of ale and sat down beside them. "You're not from around here, that's for sure," he said, trying to break the silence. The stranger turned to him, their eyes glinting in the firelight. "No," they said. "I'm not." Thorne leaned in closer. "What are you searching for?" he asked, his voice barely above a whisper. The stranger's smile was enigmatic. "Something that's been lost for a long time," they repeated. Thorne's eyes narrowed. "You're not going to find it in Ravenswood," he said. "We don't have anything of value here." The stranger's gaze seemed to bore into Thorne's soul. "You'd be surprised what secrets this town holds," they said. And with that, the stranger stood up and headed to their room, leaving Thorne with more questions than answers. What were they searching for? And what secrets did Ravenswood hold?
