The Killer in the Smoke

You focus for a moment, imagining a ball of light in your hand. It emerges a second later, and you smirk. You aren't supposed to use any other weapons besides your rifle and shock rod, but no one said anything about a flash-bang made of magic. Tossing it into the area where your opponents are, you count to three before mentally detonating the ball in a blinding flash.

You hear three voices crying out simultaneously in shock and rage, with screams of "Cheater!" You, of course, don't really care as you step out from your cover and start to open fire on them. Three splatters of paint appear on each of the Team Blue member's armor as you eliminate them from the fight.

Grinning victoriously, you radio the rest of your teammates and tell them to move out so that you can take the fight to the other side. Two of your teammates step out to follow you.

Ami and Jax, that's what you recall their names are. Nodding at them, you lead them out of the ruined building that you're holed up in and out into the abandoned town that the combat exercise is being held in. The three of you move from cover to cover, taking great care not to be seen by anyone else.

So far, so good. You've managed to avoid detection thus far. Eventually though, you arrive at a barricade formed of rubble, which looks like it was recently formed. You frown a little; nothing on the maps indicated that there was any barricade. This is probably Morgan's plan to slow your team down in case you managed to take down the team that she sent earlier.

As the three of you discuss how to bypass the barricade, Jax tilts his head a little, seemingly noticing something, and then shifts his body to the side. "Move!" he bellows. Ami and you throw yourselves to the side immediately before pellets hit the barricade. You find cover at the same moment as two other Magikiras units move out from cover, spraying the area with pellets.

And keeping behind cover is all you can do for now.
