CHAPTER 5. The Devil

996 Words
As expected, the entire place turned silent again as they watched Vinisha step out of the hall with her maid, unhurriedly. It was as if whatever happened hadn't happened and whatever was to come stared up the anxiety in everyone. "Lucinda found her mate, the ceremony should start." King Lincolnton continued after Vinisha left. Damon smiled, leaving to take his seat while his cousin brother Taylor remained with Lucinda. From the crowd, a Lady stepped out regardless of the scene. "I'm honored, your Majesty." She greeted me as she made the speech. The once heavy atmosphere was now dropped to the lowest level as Damon began talking to the King, not minding the angry gaze Valerie threw at him once in a while with her pretentious smile. Her plan was destroyed after his impromptu entrance. Laughter once again started to boom in the hall, women dying to meet with the dark Alpha who was seated with their King. Music, waltz dance, and the rest, it was never like before. "What would be your judgments later on?" Damon spoke, asking the King he sat with but King Lincolnton wanted to just ignore the question. "It is nothing to worry about, Damon. You should instead enjoy the ceremony.." King Lincolnton almost pleaded. "Hmm!" Damon hummed. "I heard she's your daughter." Of course, was that even a statement? What is wrong with this Alpha? Smiling mischievously, he continued, "I recommend her bravery even with how you looked delectable. She's a real princess." Damon said, gaining King Lincoln's attention. "I'm honored then," King Lincolnton said through gritted teeth. It wasn't any longer a news that the young Alpha behind him made rules and still erased them. He alone holds the authority every other Alpha wants and can directly or indirectly use them. "Golden locks?" Damon said loud but enough for King Lincolnton alone to hear. Eyes widened with shock, King Lincolnton stared at Damon as if he just uncovered something he shouldn't have. "Am I pr.." "No not at all, Damon. I should get you a room, after all the party would be over soon and, you honored me so much that you came way too early. You should rest." King Lincolnton said breathlessly as if angry but he dared not. Understanding that the King was trying to ignore every question concerning the princess, he smirked. Something about the princess captured him and that thing left a pang in his chest. He wants to know her, not only her name but her everything. The way she had remained calm and unmoving, her elegance speaking for her…. The way she hadn't answered her father when he ordered in his Alpha voice to apologize yet she didn't…!! Hell? He found himself amused. No werewolf would ever resist his or her Alpha's voice no matter how brave or stubborn they are except they are rogues. Is she a rogue..? Damon doubted it. She had stood there, even checking to see if there was another aside from her with the name; Vinisha. Her name rang in his head and a smile curved its way up to his plush lips. "Vinisha" he murmured between breaths. Something is wrong with him. Forcing himself to be composed, Damon returned to being the devil he is as he shook the whole thoughts of Vinisha down or even away. As King Lincolnton had said, the party was already over but he paid no attention to any of the events that happened afterward whilst, engaging himself with Vinisha's expression. Ladies kept staring back at him while men spoke of his handsomeness. Damon wasn't bothered. After they had dispersed, Taylor walked up to Damon as he bowed at King Lincolnton and the Queen, waving at Lucinda more awkwardly. The moment his eyes met with Damon's as both left the royal werewolf family, he frowned. "Don't tell me that was what you called fun? Prying into my private issues to quench your curiousness..?" Taylor asked but Damon said nothing. It took the young man a lot of time to finally realize that his devil of a cousin brother saw how he'd flinch anytime Lucinda mentioned the word mate. Blazing hot with his face turning a little darker with the shade of red, Taylor felt embarrassed. His brother had made him with his mate after many years of waiting and even indirectly saved the princess. What a hero..! They said nothing as they were guarded to their various rooms but Damon dragged Taylor to him as he closed the door behind them. With a confused look, Taylor couldn't tell what was happening as he felt the devilish side of his brother, his wolf, was out. Again, his ocean Blue eyes merged with the silver in them, making the color change to a metallic Blue. Frightened, he thought he did something wrong to bring out this side of his brother when he instead heard his voice. "Leave a word and you're as good as dead Taylor," Damon said. His voice wasn't calm or harsh. It was demanding and commanding, like his Aura. Taylor swallowed. "W.. what do you w.. want?" He asked, stammering. Did that even come out right? That was the impact of seeing a badass Alpha in his devilish side. As if Damon had come back to his senses, he left Taylor at his wolf speed as he managed to get to the ceiling-to-ground glass window that viewed the woods at the back of the palace. What is wrong with him..? Damon calmed his breath, closing his blazing eyes and opening them the next second. The metallic Blue in his eyes changed back to normal. "A.. are you okay, d.. Damon?" Taylor stuttered as he knew just how much his brother was finding it difficult to control himself. The two-hundred-year-old Alpha finally calmed down before turning back at Taylor. "What do you know about Princess Vinisha Yeol?" His voice demanded. What? "W.. how do y…" "Answer me, Taylor!" The devil was back.
