36 The doorbell rang at six o’clock. Diana rushed off the bed to the living room, barking excitedly. I grabbed my phone from the nightstand and pulled up the security video feed for the front door. It was Jake, thank goodness, and not some eastern European mobster. Then again, assassins didn’t usually ring the doorbell. I pulled on a bathrobe and shuffled out of my room but not before Jake rang another couple of times and pounded on the door for good measure. “Jesus Christ!
