When we reached the CCSO’s Ironwood Substation, I asked for Detective Rios at the front desk. The desk sergeant made a call, talked to someone, then hung up. “I’m afraid she’s away from her desk at the moment. Can I leave her a message?”
I shook my head. “Thanks, anyway.”
Back in the Gray Ghost, I called the phone number Trina had given me.
“This is Detective Rios. How can I help you?”
“Detective, this is Jinx Ballou. I work with Pima Bail Bonds down in Scottsdale. I’m looking for an associate of yours—Zia Pearson.”
There was a pause at the other end of the line. “I haven’t spoken to Ms. Pearson in over a month. I’m guessing this is connected to the homicide she was charged with in Scottsdale?”
“Yeah, she jumped bail. I could use your help bringing her back into custody.”
