Kaylee was still rambling when I stood up and went into the house. I want to confront her, but honestly, I don't dare to do that right now. Maybe later. Reaching the living room, I found some maids cleaning up; some of them offered their greetings, but I ignored them and made my way upstairs. My room is on the second floor. After climbing the numerous stairs, I continued toward my room, but when I got close, I found Hank waiting at the door.
Hank. What is he doing here? It's been two days since I last saw or spoke to him. I couldn't visit him because I was too ashamed of my looks, and he didn't visit either. It's surprising to see him here.
Is he here to comfort me? Maybe he heard about his brother's bad behavior toward me, and he's here to apologize on his behalf.
The thought brought a smile to my face, and before I knew it, I was smiling. "Hank," I called, moving closer to him.
"What are you doing here? Here to check up on me?" I asked, but Hank surprised me with his extremely cold attitude.
"You need to exit this room by tomorrow," he turned to me sharply and stated.
What? What is he saying?
"Hank, I... I don't understand." I blinked, confused.
"You heard me; an important guest is coming over, and she needs a good room during her stay here. You can relocate to the one downstairs."
"What?" I scoffed. What is he talking about? My room is the Luna's room. Only Lunas or soon-to-be Lunas can use this room. Why would I relocate to a different room?
"I don't understand you, Hank. Who is this person coming over?"
"You don't need to know her. I'll inform the maids about the relocation shortly," he told me, and then he started to leave, but I stopped him.
"Hank," I touched his arm, but he brushed my hand away.
"Who is she?" Ignoring his attitude, I asked.
"She is an important guest; she'll be here tomorrow. Move to the room downstairs; I won't repeat myself," he ordered and immediately left.
What the heck...! What is really happening? I'm lost.
They've been ignoring me and giving me attitude these past few days, but they've never hurt me like this. What happened? Have they lost their minds, or... did I become more irritating?
Have I become more unbearable? It has been some time since I last looked in the mirror, so perhaps I have become more unattractive.
Maybe I...
Maybe...
My heart sank into my stomach, and tears burned the back of my eyes as the realization hit me. Maybe I've actually become a burden. Maybe they don't want me anymore.
I need to look in the mirror. I need to see it for myself. I can't keep going like this. Maybe I'll understand how they truly feel after looking in the mirror. Summoning up courage, I unlocked the door and went in. I dropped my school bag on one of the sofas and quickly went into my walk-in closet.
My closet has a big mirror; the mirror will show me what I truly look like now.
When I reached the mirror, I didn't look immediately. I inhaled deeply five times, then slowly opened my eyes to look. Looking in, I saw my exact appearance. But my appearance wasn't so different from the one I saw a week ago.
It was exactly the same. I had a wrinkled, swollen face, crooked eyes, big lips, a super flat nose, and long ears that resembled elf ears. It's the same; I'm not looking better.
Frustrated and angry, I turned and was about to storm out of the closet, but something unexpected happened. This change of events forced me to a sudden halt.
My appearance changed. My appearance has changed.
How did I know this? It's because I can see it. I can also feel it. Shocked and curious, I turned toward the mirror, and to my greatest surprise, I saw that my appearance had truly changed. It has returned to normal.
I'm back to being a beauty queen. I'm back to having long, flowing, and vibrant red hair, with bright, clear blue eyes and a fair, porcelain-like skin tone, which contributes to my delicate and ethereal presence.
A loud gasp left my lips, and before I knew it, I was racing out of my room toward the maids' quarters.
I need to make sure this is real. I need the maids to confirm it; they were the first set of people who saw me the day I changed.
Reaching the maids' hall, I found some of them sitting around and quickly approached them.
"How do I look?" I asked, my hands involuntarily touching my face.
"Do I look better now? Do I look beautiful?" I asked as my eyes moved from one maid to the next.
But none of them said a word; they just kept staring at me in shock. I can tell that they're in shock because of their wide eyes and dropped jaws.
"How do I look? I look better now, don't I?" I asked again; I am desperate for an answer. I needed an encouraging word, and I expected to get one, but didn't. The next thing I saw in their eyes was fear; some of them stood up and moved far from me.
What is happening? What is going on?
"Luna... I think you..." "You need to check the mirror," one of them stammered, fearfully.
What? What is she talking about?
"You've gotten worse. I'm so sorry, Luna Serena, but you look more terrible than you did last time," she confessed.
Why? How? I changed. My looks became normal again.
Feeling shocked and perplexed, I moved my hands over my face to check, confirming that she wasn't lying. I've become terrible.
How? Why on earth?
My appearance returned to normal a few seconds ago. How did I end up with this face again?
Heartbroken and disappointed, I immediately collapsed onto the chair beside me.
Tears gathered in my eyes again, but I didn't hold them back and let them fall this time.
What is this? What on earth is happening to me? Am I under a curse? Did I do something to anger the moon goddess?
Why has she taken my beauty away? Why is she doing this to me?
I need an answer!!!
