The taste of Ethan's kiss lingered on Sophia's lips long after she had left his car. She barely slept that night, her body still thrumming with the heat he had ignited. No man had ever made her feel this way-on edge, out of control, completely consumed.
But she couldn't let this go further.
At least, that's what she told herself as she stood in front of the mirror the next morning, adjusting her pale blue blouse and fitted skirt. Professional. Composed. In control. She needed to remember who she was.
Keep it together, Sophia.
But when she arrived at the office, all those good intentions shattered the moment she saw him.
Ethan.
He was already there, leaning against her desk, his sharp grey suit perfectly tailored, but his gaze...
Dark. Heated. Full of unspoken promises.
"Morning, Sophia," he murmured, that delicious voice dripping with sensuality.
Her pulse spiked. "Morning, Ethan."
She attempted to walk past him, but he caught her wrist-firm but gentle, just like
"Not so fast." His voice dropped lower.
Her breath caught. The entire office was bustling behind them, but it felt like they were in their own private world.
"Ethan, we can't keep-"
"We will keep doing this," he interrupted, stepping closer, his thumb brushing along the inside of her wrist. "Stop fighting it, Sophia. You feel it. I feel it."
Her heart pounded. She knew he was right. But... "What if someone sees?"
"Let them." His lips curved into a sinful smirk. "But I'm not going to touch you here...yet.
Heat pooled low in her belly, her thighs clenching involuntarily.
Suddenly, he leaned closer, his lips grazing just below her ear as he whispered, "Meet me in the file room. Ten minutes."
Before she could respond, he released her and walked away, leaving her breathless and shaking.
Ten minutes later...
Sophia's pulse raced as she entered the file room, door clicking shut behind her. Dimly lit, silent, secluded.
She barely had a second to catch her breath before Ethan was on her-pressing her back against the shelves, his body heat enveloping hers.
"You came," he whispered, his lips brushing the corner of her mouth.
"I...I shouldn't have."
"But you did." His hands traced down her sides, teasing the hem of her skirt "Tell me to stop, Sophia...and I will."
she didn't
Instead, her lips crashed against his, all her restraint shattering as she surrendered to the fire between them.
Ethan's kiss was demanding, fierce, his tongue sliding against hers in a way that made her knees weak. His hands explored her body-trailing down her back, gripping her waist, pulling her flush against him.
"Sophia..." he growled against her lips, his voice raw with desire. "You have no idea how long I've wanted this."
fingers tangled in his hair, desperate, needy as she arched into him.
But
Click.
The door handle twisted.
Sophia froze, eyes wide as she shoved Ethan back.
The door creaked open slightly.
"Is someone in here? a voice called out.
Ethan exhaled a low curse, quickly adjusting his shirt while Sophia frantically smoothed her skirt.
"Just...grabbing some files," she called out, her voice breathless.
A pause. Then footsteps retreating.
When the door clicked shut again, Ethan exhaled a laugh, leaning back against the shelves. "That was close."
Sophia shot him a glare. "This-this cannot keep happening. Someone's going to catch us!"
He stepped closer, pinning her with that irresistible gaze. "Then stop me."
Her lips parted-but she didn't stop him.
Because deep down, she didn't want to.
And they both knew it.
