Her pulse hadn't slowed since the moment he whispered against her skin, his voice still echoing in her mind. Every glance they exchanged felt like a silent challenge, a of restraint neither seemed willing to lose. But that night, as she lay in bed, the memory of him wouldn't leave her. The way he had touched her wrist so lightly yet with such intent. The heat of his breath against her neck. The way his eyes darkened, hungry and possessive. The next morning, she promised herself she'd stay professional, that she wouldn't let his affect b Rut when she walked into the office, her resolved shattered instantly. Ethan was already there, leaning casually against the wall near her desk, his arms crossed, looking every bit the temptation she was trying to He wore a fitted white shirt with the sleeves rolled up, exposing his strong forearms. His gaze locked on hers the she entered, a slow, knowing smile spreading across his face. "Morning, Sophia," he said, his voice dripping with that same teasing huskiness. She swallowed hard, forcing her lips into a tight smile. "Morning, Ethan." But as she tried to walk past him, his hand caught her wrist-firm but gentle. He didn't pull her, just held her there. Close. "Sophia..." His voice was softer now, more serious. "Are you really going to keep pretending this...thing between us doesn't exist?" She looked around, the office still mostly empty, but her heart pounded like they were being watched. "Ethan...please. This isn't appropriate. We wor ether-" "And?" He took a step closer, his scent enveloping her. "What if I told you I don't care about the rules? What if I told you I can't stop thinking about you?" Her breath caught. He was too close. Too intense. "You should care," she whispered, though her voice trembled. "But I don't." His fingers traced a slow path along her wrist, sending a shiver through her. "I think you're just as affected as I am. And I think you're scared of how badly you want this." Her eyes flicked to his lips, dangerously close to hers. She could feel herself caving, melting under the sheer gravity of his presence. But before could respond, his phone buzzed in his pocket, breaking the spell. Ethan exhaled a low curse and pulled away, checking the screen. "I need to take this." Sophia nodded, her still tingling from his touch as she quickly escaped to her desk. But this wasn't over. A work gala was being hosted at a luxury hotel, and attendance was mandatory. She arrived wearing a sleek black dress that hugged her curves perfectly. The fabric dipped low enough at the back to feel daring but still elegant. But she hadn't expected him to be waiting for her near the entrance, looking devastatingly handsome in a dark suit. His eyes darkened the moment they fel' roaming the length made her breath hitch er, his gaze Jody in a way that made her breath hitch. "You look..." Ethan's voice was rough as he stepped closer. "Incredible." Heat bloomed on her cheeks, but she forced herself to stay composed. "Thank you. Should we head inside?" But instead of following the crowd into the ballroom, Ethan caught her wrist again, this time pulling her gently but firmly into a quieter hallway. Her pulse spiked. "Ethan, what are you doing? Someone will see-" "I don't care." His voice was raw, husky, and his eyes...burned with something deeper. His brushed along her bare shoulder, trailing lightly until it rested on her waist. Her skin tingled under his touch. "I've tried to be patient, Sophia. But every time I'm near you, it gets harder. I can't stop thinking about you. Wanting you." Her body responded instantly, heat pooling low in her belly "Tell me to stop," he whispered, his lips brushing just close enough to drive her wild. But she didn't. Instead, she closed the distance. Her lips met his, soft at first, hesitant...until Ethan growled softly, deepening the kiss with a hunger that stole her breath. His hands tangled in her hair, pulling her closer as his body pressed against hers, hard and demanding. Sophia's back met the wall, her breath ragged as his lips trailed down her neck, the sensitive skin just below her ear. "Do you have any idea what you do to me?" Ethan whispered against her skin. Her only answer was a soft moan, her body arching into his as his hands explored the curve of her waist, her hips. But just as the moment turned dangerously intense- A voice echoed from and of the hall. "Hey! Is someone back there?" Sophia's eyes widened. Ethan pulled back just enough to meet her gaze, his breathing heavy. "This isn't over," he whispered darkly, pressing one last lingering kiss to her lips before reluctantly stepping back into the shadows. Heart pounding, Sophia straightened her dress, trying to calm the fire raging inside her as she returned to the ballroom- knowing full well she was already in too deep.
