Chapter 17 Confessions

1788 Words
MARY “Our girl did it,” she announced to Catherine and Frances. “She beat back Isabella, at least this round, and she helped her Phoenix beat back Isaac. I think she can handle what needs to be done!” PHOENIX I didn’t want to break the silence. We lay there snuggling, both still exhausted from the last few days and now, our first lovemaking. My mate looked more relaxed and pain free than she had. She had her ear over my heart; a spot she said earlier was becoming her favorite. I’d only smiled at her; words were failing me for the first time in my life. I’d been raised and trained to become the next Alpha. Words weren’t supposed to fail me. Genevieve finally spoke up. “Our wolves took advantage of us. I realize they’re, uh, legendary, but is that normal?” “It’s not uncommon and if not controlled, can cause the wolf to go rogue and take the human with it.” “I read about those, but it’s hard to know which books were human fiction and which ones weren’t,” she looked contemplative and sexy as hell. “I want you to know something though.” She seemed hesitant. “Sure, I want you to tell me everything,” I encouraged. “I don’t have any regrets about what just happened,” she smiled sheepishly at me and I think my heart skipped a beat. “I don’t have any regrets, either. I have a little confession, too,” I decided to be sheepish, too, and was rewarded with a blushing grin. “I wanted you the moment I laid eyes on you. It’s how us werewolves are, uh, programmed. But, at the same time, I did not want to f**k up.” Genevieve snuggled in closer and I felt my whole being hum with delight. I heard her stomach growl. “I take that back. I do regret not having food sent up.” GENEVIEVE POV Phoenix punched 3 digits into the bedside and then the speaker button. “The menu is prerecorded so we know what our options are. The cooks do this so they aren’t completely bombarded with Mind Links, though that’s how I’ll order,” he explained. “After you officially become Luna, you’ll be able to order by Mindlink, too.”. I wondered how I would become Luna, but I knew it had something to do with being marked. I remembered Isabella had her fangs bared to bite Phoenix’s neck. After we made our dinner selections—grilled chicken and mashed potatoes for me to try—Phoenix tried to explain the Chain of Command. The Alpha and Luna were at the top of the Chain and could Mindlink any packhouse employee, permanent resident, or member of the Guard Unit, but not all of them were permitted to reach out directly to us, except in an extreme emergency. I was reminded of the emergency call tree one of the summer universities I had attended had to notify staff and students of closures due to excessive heat. When our meals were delivered I got to take in his naked form again as he walked across the room to the door. His beautiful body that had made unbelievable love to me just a short time ago. If I hadn’t been so hungry, I might have pulled him back down. As soon as the door opened, I caught the delicious aroma of real food. I didn’t care if mine had to be bland. “Do you want to sit on the balcony and eat?” He asked me. “The sun is going down and the view is spectacular I’m hearing.” “Yes!” Would I ever! “Stay right there and let me set the table, then I’ll walk with you in case you get dizzy.” While I waited, I wondered if I would have been so slutty if it weren’t for Isabella. How would I know the difference between what I wanted and what she wanted? I didn’t feel her right now, so I felt it safe to assume that the thoughts going through my head now were mine. Phoenix had taken such good care of me and was absolutely delicious! I knew beyond a doubt I wanted him! I worried that he might grow tired of me. “Why the frown?” He asked when he came back. “Oh, just replaying the power struggle with Isabella.” “Ahh. Well there’s something I want to say to you about that but let’s go eat.” I decided right then and there to always be completely honest with him. We watched the sun sink and felt the waning moon begin to appear behind us. I could just make out a sprinkling of rooftops and pinpricks of lights in the distance. My first real view of my new world. From here, it didn’t look much different than earth and I felt peace. After we ate, I looked Phoenix in the eye as I told him, “There's something I’m worried about. Maybe it’s the shock of the last several days, but.. What if…” s**t, this was hard to say when I looked at him and felt like a silly school girl. “What if you grow tired of me and my ignorance of what I’m supposed to be, of how I’m supposed to act?” Phoenix’s face softened and he smiled at me. “Girl,” he sighed, “I’m worried that you will grow tired of me.” He grasped both of my hands. “I don’t think it’s possible for me to grow tired of you. I am excited to teach you everything, though I have a feeling you’re going to teach me just as much. Genevieve Triplett, I choose you to be my mate.” I think I smiled with my whole body at the sound of my name on his lips. My full name, that I didn’t know the first almost 14 years of my life. We didn’t know much about each other. I know I slept, what? Six of our seven, eight days together? The math wasn’t mathing with him staring at me. I quit trying to calculate and dove straight into the deep end. “And I chose you, Phoenix McClaran, to be my mate,” I breathed back and was rewarded by a big goofy grin as I felt something click into place. “What was that?” “That was our Mate Bond.” He stared into my eyes. He cupped my chin in his hand. “You’ve got gravy, right there,” he leaned in and licked the gravy then kissed me. Like he meant it. “Now there’s something I wanted to talk to you about. When you were struggling with Isabella, were you aware that you were using what we call Alpha Commade mode?” “I don’t even know what that is,” I admitted. “It’s a power Alpha’s use to demand obedience. Here, let me do it to you.” I felt a shift in the air and saw a faint red ring around Phoenix. “Gen, you will kiss me right now.” I felt a sudden compulsion to obey and crushed my mouth to his. And then the feeling went away. “I think I understand,” I whispered into his mouth, still having the desire to kiss him but not the command. “It’s a very sacred power and not to be abused. We value free will here, but if you keep kissing me I’m going to lose my free will.” I got up from my seat and straddled Phoenix in his. There was nothing between us but robes and both had a gap. “You can borrow some of mine,” I offered and shifted so that our genitals were lined up. I was rewarded with a growl and lots of twitching. I readjusted to allow his erection to spring to life, gently grinding as he kissed me everywhere he could reach. I teased his c**k as I slid slowly up, just barely letting the head in before sliding back down. His hands were on my ass, gently spreading me apart while guiding me for several passes up and down his shaft. Unable to resist anymore, I pushed myself down onto him. “Oh, goddess,” he panted and stood up and carried me, legs wrapped around his waist, to the bed. He placed me on the edge of the bed while he stood and pushed in farther. “Put your ankles on my shoulders,” he instructed. “Ahhh. Just like that. Do you like this?” He pulled out, leaving just the tip inside me. “Yes! Yes, you feel so good!” I cried out in ecstasy as he pushed back in and held, teasing me and causing me to gasp. “I found your sweet spot, didn’t I?” It was more of a statement than a question. He pulled out to the tip again and arrowed back in for that spot that also made my legs quiver. This time he added a little grind before pulling back. That became the rhythm and I focused on every deliberate stroke Phoenix made. He stoked the fire into a slow burn with his steady tempo. “I love the way you gasp every time I hit your sweet spot,” he groaned. “You fit me like a glove, Gen.” I felt the crescendo building in a song only we could hear—every nerve was taut. I couldn’t formulate words as he ground into me and picked up the pace, causing his balls to slap on my ass. “Yes, yes, yes,” I managed when he placed his hands under my ass to lift me and pounded into me, still hitting my sweet spot—it sounded like we were making macaroni and cheese and I soon exploded physically and spiritually. “How did you do that?” Phoenix asked me after we were tucked under the covers. “How did I do what?” “I’m pretty sure you were projecting what you were feeling onto me. It was like I could feel two sensations.” “I don’t know,” I really didn’t. “Well that was—goddess, I don’t know how to even describe it, but if this is what it’s like before we even Mark each other, then I’m both the luckiest man in the universe and in the most trouble,” he rambled. “I have no regrets,” he sighed contentedly.
