Chapter 21 Andre

The city that the packhouse overlooked was indeed like most cities onearth. Phoenix pointed towards the mountainous horizon as the limo carried us there and explained that the portal lobby was that direction. Attacks couldn’t come from any other direction because the other directions were exits only. Anyone who tried to “come in through an out door” would be incinerated. By the time intruders hit the Portal Lobby, alarms would be going off, giving residents plenty of time to arm and defend themselves. Much of the technology and magic behind keeping Death Moon safe had been developed after the attack on Silver Moon. Our first stop had been to the bank where we learned that the $30,000 deposited there had indeed more than quadrupled. In fact, the balance was over $2.5 million. I also learned that the role of Luna paid $2,500 a month. “You mean I get paid to be your mate?” I teased Phoenix as the branch manager opened my account and cut a card. “I wouldn’t laugh yet, my love,” he told me with a wink. “You’ll earn every nickel of it!” My half of a million paled in comparison to Phoenix’s millions, though. Between the personal, business and equity funds, he may have been a billionaire. “One of your roles is to help manage finances,” the branch manager explained. “Mrs. McClaran will teach you a lot of it, but we have a training course, too.” I thought Kelli told me money was more of a bartering system here? Luckily, Josephine had insisted that I take some accounting and business management courses. I could manage the various personal and business accounts, if the concept was the same. “This ledger and card,” Phoenix said as he handed yet another card and the ledger to me, “are your ‘keys’ to redecorating our floor. I’ll show you later how we record expenses.” Our next stop was to a shopping mall. “So now I can buy what I want!” I was still in awe but knew I wasn’t going to blow money all willy nilly. Josephine had taught me to be conservative and that’s how we managed to travel the world. “Yes, but you won’t need your own money today. I know Kelli is dying to take you shopping and that you are eager to see your parents’ things, so I made arrangements to see a tailor,” Phoenix looked like most males on earth at a mall—as if he’d much rather be fishing. “Andre will get you measured and wait on you hand and foot. I should warn you about Andre, though. He’s quite gay and bossy as f**k. He is, however, the best damn tailor we’ve seen here in a few decades. He makes all of my suits.” “I wonder if he’d make you some kilts so I’d have easier access to your p***s,” I remarked nonchalantly, catching Phoenix completely off guard. “Didn’t you say something last night in the heat of passion about me getting some dresses for easier access?” “Oh my f*****g goddess, I think I f*****g love you,” he laughed, pulling me in for a kiss. “But you might want to meet Andre first before you suggest that. He’s liable to try to molest both of us.” {~>*•**•**•**•**•*<~} PHOENIX “Your plan is working, perfectly, Cook,” Phoenix patted the older man on the back behind the two way glass. “I assume you can tell which set she’s looking at the hardest?”
