ISABELLA
My belly was huge and the not so gentle kicks I felt assured me my baby and future mate were alive and well. I was still living in the shallow cave near the place where everything had changed. The Moon Goddess had given me supernatural senses and hunting skills. I feasted like a real Lady and enjoyed preparing my home for my new arrival.
He would grow faster than a normal human but would still need to be cared for like any infant. My breasts were engorged with milk and I remembered the way Isaac had nursed as a wolf pup. My n*****s tingled.
The Moon Goddess had been very quiet the last three full moons. I knew she was still exhausted and doing her best to simply ensure I was safe. I wasn’t looking forward to labor alone, but I didn’t dare ask for human help. My prior miscarriages had been hard on me, but I was part wolf now and healed much faster.
As the evening of the fourth full moon approached, I began to feel what I presumed were contractions. My belly couldn’t possibly get any bigger. I had finished stocking supplies that morning. Perfect timing. I’d been nesting for the past few days and was ready. Towards evening, as the ache in my back and the twinges in my belly increased, I headed down to the river, where I’d decided to try giving birth. Many women had given birth in water for centuries and it seemed more logical than in the cave. While I didn’t expect the same light show as the night I conceived, I wanted to feel that moonlight on me again as I brought my Isaac back into this world.
I would always love the moonlight, I thought, even as the contractions progressed and gripped me with pain as my belly tightened, harder and longer each time. I made sure to relax as much as possible between each contraction and turned my face towards the moon, welcoming the light to wash over my naked, labor intensed body.
::Breathe and pant through the pain::
Unalarmed at the voice in my head, I did as I was commanded and inhaled deeply as I felt the next contraction begin almost as soon as the previous one ended. This contraction came with the urge to push and I was ready.
I pushed for at least an hour and I was getting nowhere but exhausted.
::Moon Goddess! I need help. My shoulder is stuck and I’m afraid I’ll hurt my Isabella:: I heard Isaac plead with the Moon Goddess.
It hurt so much. I could feel his head crowning between my legs but I couldn’t push it out. I felt like I was being ripped in two and the burning sensation was unlike anything I’d ever experienced before. The contractions were coming back to back with no time to relax in between. My mouth was dry from panting. I’d moved as best I could from the flat clearing by the bank back into the water a couple of times already, but nothing was helping. Isaac was stuck and afraid he’d hurt me so was probably holding back.
::No, my love. Not really. I’m pretty helpless here and having a hard time catching my breath, too.::
It didn’t seem possible, but the next contraction was even more intense. The pain threatened to send me into unconsciousness and I began to fear for my life when I felt a pair of hands on my shoulders.
“It’s ok,” the young girl said softly after I finished screaming. “I’m a friend and my sisters and I are here to help.”
“Who. Are. You?” I panted, the pain nearly unbearable.
“We represent The Maiden, the Mother, and the Crone.”
Fade to black.
I awoke I don’t know how much longer in the cave, tucked into my bed, with Isaac swaddled tightly in the crook of my arm.
We did it. The sisters were gone and I didn’t remember much about it, but we did it. My body was very sore and I felt weak as an infant, but we were alive. He stirred and started rooting for a n****e.
“That’s it, my love,” I softly whispered. “Take mommy’s milk so you grow big and strong.”
We lived to a ripe old age, Isaac sadly passed in his sleep one fateful night. I vowed we would each be reborn and find each other again and again as I, too, succumbed to my first death.
Each reincarnation to date had been a failure. This next time, I vowed, there would be no stopping us.
We just had to get the Triple Goddess and our descendants together.
{~>*•*Communicating with our human counterparts that we share our minds and bodies with, wasn’t the easiest. For one, we spoke different languages. Yes, us “inner wolves” spoke the languages of our “host,” but there was an issue with translation of the olde language and the human aspect that could go mad from certain knowledge.
Some people would find this story disgusting. If you’ve read this far and are disturbed by our story, you’re free to stop reading.
Except for the occasional rogue wolf, us wolves were not in full control of our host. The human host could deny the Mate Bond, though most were usually unsuccessful. When they did succeed in denying a mate, they usually didn’t survive long. Our last hosts had been stubborn like that. It’s our own fault, though, for not being more selective with our offspring’s hybrid breeding.
If there was a Heaven, it wasn’t intentionally for us; at least not until our work was done, or we decided to give ourselves to its Commander. That was if Legend had any truth to it. We only knew that at least one Legend held truth: ours.
As you’ve just read, the Moon Goddess designed us to be born again, as the wolf counterpart to a human and to procreate for Her.
Holy s**t did I love procreating, but it was only soul touching with The One. The thought gave me and my host, Alpha Phoenix, a little tingle in his groin, as he slept. The only time I could really think out loud. I could show him things in his dreams I couldn’t tell him with words. It was part of the Ancient Wisdom communication barrier.
In war, I would take more control and guide him. No amount of training or conversation could prepare any host for the centuries of knowledge I had, and not all wolves had it. Some were newer souls, given passage by the Goddess as old souls completed their missions, or grew weary of the same s**t life after life. It was believed that the human creator, many of you know simply as God, gave sanctuary to those tired old souls if they yielded to Him and pledged to serve Him for the remainder of Eternity. It was His Heaven I believed might finally end lifetimes of looking for the other half of my soul.
Perhaps, if Isabella and I could get it right this time, we could enter Heaven. I was growing weary of losing her soon after finding her again and again. If the Goddess finally blessed us again, our hosts would fall madly in love and we would complete our mission.
Our first life was not enough! Isabella was of child bearing age when she first rescued me. She was 25 years old when she rescued me. 26 when she birthed me. We raised four wolf pups together, but had wanted a hundred more. Including me, Isabella had given birth to five. I’d nearly killed her. If the Triple Goddess hadn’t helped her…
I didn’t want to think about that right now. I just wanted to find her. I needed Phoenix to claim Isabella’s host and I had more confidence in him than my previous hosts. I believed we were being guided by The Powers That Be to finally make things right.

PHOENIX
“Holy s**t!” I muttered out loud as I jerked awake. “What a realistic dream,” I thought as I realized I just had my first wet dream since puberty. Holy s**t, indeed.
The beautiful ginger haired woman in my dream had seemed so real, I could still… taste her. What the f**k??
Dammit, I was going to have to change shorts. How embarrassing. This hadn’t happened to me in years.
The Beltane celebration was starting to sound better and better. It was a f**k fest for many. A celebration of spring renewal and fertility. The thought of bedding yet another strange woman only half appealed to me. I knew this pull for a mate was only going to grow stronger.
It wasn’t unheard of for werewolves to mate with humans. That was how we allegedly were created. It also wasn’t unheard of for the mate bond to be present between a wolf and a human.
I was actually beginning to look forward to going.
