As I quite enjoyed petting this huge cat, the iron door behind me suddenly was opened.
Demon got a fright and rolled over in front of me on guard.
Sidney glanced at it and made an inviting gesture to me, "Miss Garn, Mr. Packman wants to see you."
I finally felt relieved.
Before leaving, I glanced at Demon and felt sad to part with it.
It also looked at me sadly.
I followed behind Sidney obediently. Then we came to the door of a room on the second floor.
"Mr. Packman, this is Miss. Garn."
"Come in."
Hilton said in a low deep yet lazy voice.
Sidney opened the door and let me in.
In the room, Hilton put his left foot across the knee of his right leg.
Near him there was a big gray wolf lying there.
Before I came in, his long fingers were stroking the Wolf's chin. Under the light, his prominent nose cast a shadow, covering the emotion in his eyes.
Seeing me come in, Hilton and the wolf turned to look at me.
I had a feeling of being targeted by a predator, and I carefully walked in front of Hilton.
"Mr. Packman, I told you it's really not me..."
"Why did you help me?" He shook the glass with red wine in his hand and interrupted me.
I had prepared a whole story for this, but I couldn't speak it out.
"What?"
What was going on? Why couldn't I understand what he said?
Seeing I saw confused, he seemed to determine how true I was.
Finally he smiled. But there was no real sense of delight in his eyes.
"Anyway, I give you this as a token of my thanks."
Something fell at my feet.
I picked it up and found it was a wolf tooth embedded with a green gem on its tip. The gem had the same color as the eyes of the wolf beside him.
I didn't understand, "Mr. Packman, what are you doing?"
But he stopped looking at me.
Sidney came to my side and said in a low voice, "Miss Garn, this way please."
I glanced back before I left the room.
I realized Hilton was also looking at me.
His deep eyes carried some emotions that were beyond my grasp.
The room was spacious and pretty.
Every detail of the room showcased the extraordinary taste and luxury of the owner of this house.
I turned to look at Sidney standing at the door. Then I nodded and smiled, "Thank you."
Sidney did not say anything. He turned to leave like a robot who had completed the task.
Two long-haired maids in working uniforms appeared at the door just as Sidney was leaving.
"Miss Garn, you can call us if you need anything. Please don't leave the room." The maid said to me.
I had been on guard all day while dealing with terrible parents who adopted me as well as the strong tiger.
How could I get the mood of leaving the room to wander around?
I nodded and plunged straight into the bed, which was bigger than my bed at home.
I held the pillow stuffed with goose down and fell into a dream as soon as my eyes closed.
In the middle of my sleep, I thought I heard the roar of a helicopter and the footsteps of someone walking past my door.
I was just so sleepy and thought it was still a dream.
When I woke up the next day, I was full of energy.
Never slept so well!
I opened the door and was surprised to see the two maids from last night were still there.
"Have you been standing at the door all night?" I asked.
The maid took one look at me and said respectfully, "Miss Garn, please enjoy your breakfast in the dining room."
Seeing that she wasn't sleepy at all, I kind of wondered if they were robots.
Breakfast was the best I had ever seen.
A senior maid who looked very kind and amicable kept bringing food to the table.
I heard her whispering.
"This is the first time Mr. Packman has brought a woman back. I must make her enjoy here..."
"I don't know whether this Miss Garn likes it or not. Forget it! Let's make two flavors!"
I was dumbfounded.
"Excuse me, is Mr. Packman not coming for breakfast?"
"Mr. Packman had to deal with something last night. He has gone abroad. It is estimated that he will not come back for another two days."
Ah?
So that sound of plane I heard last night was real?
Since Hilton had left, it was not convenient for me to continue staying in his home.
When I had had enough breakfast, I quickly stood up and prepared to leave for my home.
But the two maids stopped in front of me.
"Miss Garn, Mr. Packman didn't say you can leave here when he left. So please wait until he comes back." The maid said calmly and decisively, leaving no room for negotiation.
My eyes widened, "But yesterday Sidney said he would send me off this morning."
They just stopped me and didn't answer.
I gritted my teeth and tried to rush out, but I was stopped by the senior maid.
"Miss Garn, they only obey orders from Mr. Packman in this family. You can stay here, and Mr. Packman will be back in two days at most."
Looking at her gentle eyes, my anger just faded away.
"Fine. By the way, how should I call you?" I asked her.
The senior maid in front of me was the only one in this family who was any kind of popular. I had to build a good relationship with her.
"Just call me Wendy."
The two maids did not limit my activities in the house, but I did not dare to walk around. If Hilton came back and found something missing, he would definitely blame it to me.
I was bored terribly. Then a huge creature quietly appeared behind me.
