I was woken up by my phone ringing, and I wondered when I had fallen asleep, but judging by the way I still felt tired and my head hurt, I realized that I had fallen asleep not too long ago.
“Yes,” I mumbled, placing my phone on the bed and leaving it on loudspeaker.
“Dude, are you still sleeping?” Asher asked, shocked.
“I had a rough night, bro. What’s wrong?” I asked.
“We had plans today, remember, but since it's already midday and you were offline, we decided to come over to your place. Get ready. We will be there in 20.” He said and then hung up. What a rude brat. I was trying to go back to sleep when I suddenly sat up in bed.
“Wait, did he mean 20 seconds or 20 minutes?” I asked no one in particular.
“I’m sure he meant 20 minutes. There is no way.” I said while standing up to shower. Since we were spending the day at my place, after showering, I wore black shorts and a vest. I didn’t even bother wearing shoes. When I went downstairs, the dining hall was occupied by my group of friends.
“Hey, guys.” I greeted them before making my way to my girlfriend and giving her a kiss.
“You look gorgeous,” I told her, making a show of looking at her all over, and she giggled.
“Thank you, babe, and you look handsome as always.” She replied, and our friends booed. They were so jelly.
“Thanks, babe,” I said and turned to the rest of the guys. “I didn’t hear the doorbell.”
“That is because they arrived while you were in the shower, and you sure took your sweet time,” my mom said, smiling tightly at me. “You guys have fun. I will see you later, Michael.” My mom excused herself, giving me a kiss on the cheek before she left. I made my way to the kitchen, and my friends followed me. They all started making lunch, and I laughed.
“I'm sorry, guys, but were you all waiting for me before making food?” I asked them.
“Yes, dumbass, Aunt always told us to eat together as a family,” Cory said, and by Aunt, he meant my mom. She was so old-fashioned and always followed weird traditions. I didn’t know how my mom knew that we would end up hanging out at her place, but I was thankful that she had made us lunch. We all dished up and then filled up the dining table, which had 12 chairs. Yep, they were all my friends, and I loved them a lot. We ate lunch with our usual banter and then went to the movie room to watch a movie. By the end of the movie, we were all puzzled, and none of us said anything or made a move to get out of the room. After a while, I don’t know how long Brad finally broke the silence.
“So that was the ending?” He asked as if in disbelief.
“Dude, I feel so robbed. They can’t die, right?” Melissa asked.
“Well, judging by the way it ended, I have to say that there is definitely another movie coming, probably next year, and they didn’t die otherwise, it was a horrible movie," Anabelle said, and we laughed, agreeing with her.
“You are right, Anabelle. I know that the ending was not the best, but there is still more to come, so let's stop sulking and go have fun in the game room.” I told them, and they seemed to brighten up at that. In the game room, we separated into smaller groups and played a variety of games. I spent the rest of the day with my friends, and they left late at night. I wanted to take a shower, but I felt light-headed, so I lay down in bed hoping the dizziness would pass soon.
