Chapter 3

517 Words
"So what did you want me to do?" Krysta asks me completely unaware of what was happening. " "You could have called me," I answer frustrated, after what happened to me today. "Okay,so when you're done with this,I would like to go and eat dinner," she says sarcastically. "Do you know what happened to me today?" "Yes,and that was hilarious. Look they even made a meme about you," she says laughing and hands me the phone. "Hash tag slipper doop?" I say and swallow a lump on my throat. This is too much for me. Not only am I humiliated, but I can't imagine school tomorrow. A hot tear runs down my chubby cheek, but I wipe it before Krysta sees it. "Who sent that?" I ask. "This person named Sophie Deleon," she answers and walks out of my room. Sophie. I should have known. See,I told you she hates me. But now,my social life is ruined. "Melissa, come down and eat," mom calls me. I quickly go down and eat. "Who's washing the dishes?" mom asks but knows all to well that I am supposed to wash them. "I am," "Okay." I ate my dinner silently thinking about what happened today. Apparently, she took the picture at the hallways. I guess must have been thinking for a while because I did not hear when mom called me. "Melissa Lucas West," "Yes mom?" "What are you thinking about?" "Oh its just homework," I lied. "Homework?" she asks suspicious as if I was hiding something which by the way,I was. "Yes. I have a tone of homework and I was just thinking about that. What's up?" "Nothing. It's just that you were deep in thought and I thought I should check on you." "Well I'm fine. No need to worry." I said hoping this conversation would end. "What's up with your sister," Mom asks Krysta. "Should I tell her?" Krysta asks me. "Tell me what?" mom asks. "No don't tell her," I whisper to Krysta who clearly doesn't know how to keep a secret. "Come on Melissa. Spill the beans. What's going on," mom asks. I now know that once mom knows Sophie has been picking on me and once she tells her mom,I'll be picked on forever. "It's because I haven't started my homework," I lied, again. "Melissa, you just told me you have a ton of homework and you haven't started yet?" she asks getting annoyed. "Yes,but I'll start as soon as I finish washing the dishes," "Hurry up then," Soon we had all finished dinner and I had started washing the dishes. The job would have gone smoother if mom had bought a dishwasher. I have told her eight hundred times to bye one but she says dishes that are hand washed are cleaner but I have never known if her legend is true because she has never bought a dishwasher. Anyway after what seemed like hours of scrubbing, I finally finished washing the dinner dishes. I went to sleep. I hoped tomorrow would be better than today.
