I woke up in the parking lot of the hospital. I feel the pain still punching my arm so hard, everything is happening so fast. My dad is taking me to the emergency room. Jake is walking with us fast, and I can see that he is afraid. Once we get to the front desk of the emergency room, my dad handles all the questions while I go to sit in the waiting room. The pain is still there, but if I don’t move too much, I can deal with it. Even so, it is very painful. Jake comes to sit with me, he doesn’t talk, he is just sitting there rubbing his hands, shaking. My dad calls him suddenly. “Jake! Let’s go, bring Erin”, my dad says, waiting for us. Jake obeys without hesitation. ------ I am sitting at the edge of a hospital bed with a cast on my left arm. I am not alone. Jake is in the room with me.
