Abaddon's POV
"Two weeks! It has been two weeks," Luca was growing impatient.
"It has not been two weeks yet. We will see her soon enough amd she will know," I tried to reassure him.
We had not seen Athena in almost two weeks. Luca had been going stir-crazy in the back of my head since we last seen her. He wanted his mate as much as I did.
I had spoke to Veronica about having her come back to the pack house for a visit. This had been to no avail.
Veronica hadn't heard back from her friend since the night of the party.
Veronica assumed Athena was angry with her. There had to be a better explanation.
I tried to push the thought away and calm down Luca. This was the routine everyday.
I was growing more impatient myself. I knew who my mate was and my packs Luna. I could not tell anyone I knew this though. They would all go into an excited panic before I could show Athena she was my mate.
As a witch, currently in human form, she wouldn't feel the mate pull like a wolf does.
I needed to have her in my arms again. I wanted her sweet scent close to me. I wanted to breath her in. I needed to make her mine. No one else could have her except me.
Then I thought about the child that called her mommy. Was that her child? Someone else had touched her before me. Someone else had mated with my angel. How dare they!
I threw a book across the room at the door as it open to reveal my Beta.
"Whoa dude. If you're trying to take my head off, you need to aim a little better," he chuckled at his sad excuse of a joke.
"Sorry man. I am just so stressed out," I said running my hand through my hair.
"Alpha duties really all that bad?" Darien asked.
"Something like that. I just have something intense on my mind," I grabbed my leather jacket and pulled it on.
We were heading out to the town for a bit of shopping. It was my sister and Veronica's idea to take a day on the town. I was forced into this little engagement since my sister's mate could not accompany her.
"Want to talk about it man?" Damien asked.
"Not really. Though, if your mate was a little more help then I wouldn't be so stressed," I said annoyed.
"I heard about you wanting her friend to come back for a visit. What is all that about?" Darien inquired.
"That is currently my business alone. When I feel you need to know, I will tell you."
We reached outside and meet up with the girls. I climbed into the driver's seat and my sister in the passenger seat. Darien and Veronica sat in the back.
I started the vehicle and connected my Bluetooth. I started playing heavy metal music. No one else in the car liked my music, but I drive so it's my music. Rules are rules.
The town was a thirty minute drive from the pack house. Plenty of time to annoy everyone with my music as much as this shopping trip was going to annoy me.
When we reached the town, I found a parking spot. We would be going to a few different stores so I figures we could all walk. Besides we're wolves and can use the exercise.
I walked a few steps behind everyone else. Constantly on alert.
The town was closer to rogue territory and many of them shopped in this area. The pack hadn't had any issues from the rogues in over twenty years and I did not want that to change.
Sometime after I was born, suddenly the rogues had stopped attacking. A Beta wolf had went rogue and now ran the rogues in a semi-pack leadership way.
He had come to my father with a peace treaty. This was to make sure my dad did not attack them and they would not attack our pack. From that point on, there were never any issues from the rogues.
I now wanted to uphold that treaty with the rogues for as long as I could. War was not something I wanted to start.
"Abaddon, stop being a slow poke. Come on. were going to go into a few shops. We will be quick. Then we will go t your favorite diner. Deal?" Stella was pleading me.
"Deal," I agreed.
What can I say? I am a glutton for good food. The diner in town made amazing food. It came really close to what our omegas made in the pack house kitchen. For humans, they cooked very good.
I followed as we entered several stores and the girls bought loads of clothes and toys. Stella was early shopping for Christmas. She thought shopping early made it easier to enjoy the actual holiday with her family.I suppose she was mostly right.
I thought again of Athena. I imagined her sitting next to me christmas morning smiling and her silver blue eyes shinning. I wanted her to be there. Her and her child.
Though he was not my child, I wanted to protect him. He seemed to mean the world to her. She seemed like an amazing mother. I wondered how she would be as a mother to our pups.
"Okay. We are ready to go eat. They will still be serving breakfast. So let's get going. Im dying for pancakes," Stella burst with excitement.
"Alright," I said a bit annoyed she had pulled me from my daydream.
We all walked back to the car to put the bags into the trunk and head to the restaurant.
I could not deny it, I was surprisingly starving. Pancakes were sounding really good to me as well.
When we arrived we all piled out of the car quickly. Ready to scarf down loads of food.
When we entered the facility, her scent hit me. Was she here? I looked around the restaurant. From the lobby I couldn't tell if she was here or not.
Oranges and honeysuckles. My mouth began to water. Her scent was so strong. I needed her.
Luca began to prance around in my head and howl. He knew she was here as much as I did.
We were escorted to our seats. The smell was stronger when we sat down. Was that really her scent or just the food being cooked?
"You know good and damn well that smell is our Mate," Luca snapped at me.
"You okay dude?" Darien said.
"Yeah I'm fine. I just smelled something good. I must be hungrier that I thought," I lied.
"Maybe. But you look like something's really got your attention today. What is going on?" he asked.
Just then a woman walked past with a blonde haired boy. I snapped my attention to her.
"Now my hands are clean can I have chocolate pancakes mommy?" the boy said.
The woman laughed and nodded to him. I couldn't see her face, but her scent was undeniable.
Athena.
Luca started howling louder in my head, "Mate." He was repeating this over and over in between howls of excitement.
"I can't just walk up to her. What would I say? I would look like an i***t," I told Luca.
"So f*****g what? You are always an i***t. Go to her!" he shouted at me.
The waitress came to our table to gather our orders from us all. We each ordered pancakes, extra bacon and coffee. Then she took our menus and walked away.
My gaze kept passing back over to Athena. She was now sitting alone with her son. They were waiting on their food and coloring. I noticed they were at a larger table to sit six. I wondered if she was meeting someone.
My answers were given when a woman, two children and a man walked up to her table.
Athena stood and hugged the woman and thw children. She stood stiff infront of the man who has tears in his eyes. She smiled at him.
Then he hugged her.
"Oh Hell No! That is OUR mate!" Luca said.
I was now battling Luca to maintain control. We didn't know who this man was and i was not about to make a scene.
Luca being promenade I could smell more. The woman was a wolf and the man a fox.
Who are these people?
They all sat down. Athena sat across from the man and woman. The children sat in the other empty chairs.
I could sense my mate was uncomfortable near this shifter.
I needed to know more.
"Veronica," I said.
"Yes, Alpha?" she looked at me.
"Athena is here. You should go say hello," I said to her.
Veronica looked over to where I pointed. She then got up amd proceeded to go say hello.
She and I both knew this was more than a Hello. She still needed t invite Athena to our pack house.
I needed to know more about this woman. My mate.
I needed her close to me. I did not like the way she seemed uncomfortable. But what could I do except send in a recruit of my own.
I would soon know. Soon Athena would know im her mate and I would make her mine.
My heart was racing for the first time ever. This woman already had me in her grasp and she didn't even know it.
