AMELIA'S POV
I froze in place, my entire body went rigid, and I felt like the air had been sucked out of the room. Sweat gathered on my palms, my heart hammering so hard it felt like he could hear every frantic beat.
Had I misheard him? No—I knew I hadn’t. His blue eyes locked onto me, watching my every reaction with unsettling calmness.
“I—I…” My voice cracked, my thoughts scattered. Why now? Why ask this? Sebastian’s brows drew together, a subtle furrow forming. He saw right through me. He always did.
“Where did you hear that name?” I forced out, swallowing the thick lump in my throat. Maggie. A name I never wanted to hear, let alone talk about. Not with him. Not with anyone.
