Picking up the Keystone, Hrex chanted, moving her hands over the silver object and then through the node of runes floating above it. Torben had no idea what she was saying; his brain was too shocked by the pain coursing through his abdomen to process anything. Carefully, almost reverently, Hrex placed the Keystone in the altar indentation, Torben’s blood welling onto the white marble and staining the silver as the Keystone locked into place. She raised her arms high above her head and finished the final words of the chant, her voice affected by the magic flowing around her. At first, nothing happened.
