After that confession, Leo visited the flower shop every day.
He pretended to be buying flowers but was actually there to see Chris.
On that day, Chris neither directly rejected nor accepted Leo's confession.
Chris simply said he needed some time to think about it, and Leo understood his concerns.
After all, a relationship between two people of the same gender was not well-regarded by society.
One evening, Leo received a call from Chris.
On the phone, Chris sounded as if he were drunk, slurring his words as he confessed his feelings for Leo, expressing a desire to see him, hug him, and kiss him.
Leo quickly went to Chris's place. When Chris opened the door and saw Leo, he was ecstatic and hugged him like he had just won the lottery.
Leo remained as gentle as ever. He patted Chris on the head and patiently asked, "What’s going on with our little Chris today? Why do you want hugs after drinking?"
Chris, who was already shorter than Leo, could only reach Leo's neck even on tiptoe.
He tilted his head back and gently nibbled on Leo's Adam's apple.
From nibbling to licking and sucking till left a light pinkish-purple color at Leo‘s neck.
Smiling happily, Leo was pleased with Chris's change. However, as long as Chris did not agree to be his man, he would not touch him.
Leo lifted Chris and placed him gently on the soft bed, continuing to speak with the same tenderness and patience: “You should go to sleep now, no more playing. Be good.”
Seeing Leo about to leave, Chris quickly grabbed the corner of Leo's shirt, looking pitiable, and said, “Stay with me and spend the night, okay?”
Leo swallowed hard, with the classic image of the devil and angel fighting in his mind.
The devil said, “The beautiful drunk has a request; we should fulfill it.”
The angel said, “No! They’re not together yet!”
Leo shook his head and then nodded. Ultimately, reason triumphed over desire.
He gently bent down to embrace Chris and explained soothingly, “We’re not in a relationship yet, so I can’t stay the night with you.”
Chris turned and kissed Leo’s neck, smiling foolishly as he said, “Then be my boyfriend and sleep with me, okay?”
From that night on, they were together.
Neither of them cared about societal opinions and decided to be together.
Their time together was truly wonderful.
Aside from physical intimacy, they did everything friends could do, everything brothers would do, and still did everything couples would do.
Sudden, tragic news was like a pair of scissors, cutting through the invisible line between them. He was reluctant, extremely reluctant.
His fingers trembled slightly as he slowly caressed the necklace around his neck.
The necklace had two letters: C & L, the initials of their names.
Leo kissed the letter C on the necklace, as if kissing Chris himself, with love so delicate, fearful of leaving him.
“What should I do… I don’t want to leave you…”
The hospital room door behind him was pushed open, and Leo instinctively turned around.
In the doorway stood a man who looked clean and innocent, like a little white rabbit.
That man... the one he had missed day and night.
Chris appeared in the hospital room with a thermos in hand. After a brief exchange of glances with Leo, he quickly walked towards him.
He casually placed the thermos on the table, and Leo opened his arms to embrace Chris.
They held each other tightly. Chris stood on tiptoe to kiss Leo’s chin and gently caressed Leo’s face with his fingers. His eyes were moist as he asked Leo about his condition with a hint of guilt.
“Sorry, Leo… It’s all because of me… If I hadn’t asked you to play soccer with me that day, you wouldn’t have ended up in the hospital… Are you okay? Did the doctor say anything?”
Leo buried his head in Chris’s shoulder, inhaling his scent, and calmly said, “Don’t worry, I’m fine. And if you wanted to play, I’d go along with you. The doctor didn’t say much, just that my foot was accidentally sprained. I’ll be out of the hospital and home soon.”
“Really?” Chris looked at Leo with suspicion.
“Really,” Leo said, pulling Chris’s hand to his chest, letting him feel the strong beat of his heart.
Chris still felt like Leo might be lying to him, but he couldn’t find any obvious signs of deceit, so he decided to trust him for now.
He stood on tiptoe, gave Leo a light kiss on the lips, and hooked his pinky finger around Leo’s.
Their fingers entwined, and Chris, with a childish, unwilling-to-give-up attitude, pouted and said, “Calling people liars is for little dogs!”
Leo burst out laughing, pinching Chris’s little nose: “You little rascal, cursing your husband as a dog. If your husband became a dog, who would take care of your needs?”
Chris gave Leo a small punch on the arm, his shy expression incredibly cute.
“You’re a rascal, and it’s still daylight! Talking about such things? Aren’t you ashamed? Bad husband!” His face was as red as a ripe tomato.
“Alright, alright, my little treasure is so good. Let me hold you, okay?”
Chris, with a proud expression, nestled into Leo’s embrace, letting him hold him gently and listening to the familiar heartbeat from behind.
This familiar heartbeat, which had been soothing him to sleep every night and day.
As the sunset cast its glow on them, their shadows stretched long.
Leo silently stared at the elongated shadows, gave Chris’s head a light kiss, and asked with a somewhat guilty tone, “Do you think we can be together till old?”
