As it was time for them to gather again, John took just enough to feel his vision blur slightly but not enough to be considered drunk. He made his way to his seat, noticing that most of the Council members were still standing around in pairs, except for Dave, who remained by himself as usual. Dave was an enigma, even to John. It was like two different people lived within him. Sometimes, he was the most open-minded person in the room; other times, he was stoic and almost impossible to read. It was always hard to predict which version of Dave anyone would encounter. “Hey!” Chris called out, approaching John and breaking his gaze from Dave. John gave a quick wink, trying to hide that he'd been startled. “Hey...” “Oh, you seem jumpy,” Chris laughed but quickly realized John wasn't amused.
