"You don’t know, do you?" Gustavo asked, leaning forward slightly to catch a glimpse of her face. "You have no idea who the hell you were dealing with."
"Gustavo!" Mary interjected sharply.
"What, Mary?" Gustavo snapped, turning towards her. "She was with the most dangerous man in all of Crestville, and she didn’t even realize it."
"You're lying," Emily whispered, her voice trembling as she raised her tear-filled eyes to meet his.
"Am I?" Gustavo scoffed, his tone dripping with sarcasm. "Listen to me, Emily. Not only is he a private detective, but he's also the most lethal mercenary in this city. I've heard stories—seen some of the things he's done. This is his expertise. He crafts elaborate stories around his hits."
