"Could you?" Edward asked, his voice probing for more information.
"We did. But my brother wasn't there anymore," Emily replied, her voice weary but steady.
"And what about Jay?" Edward continued. "What happened with him?"
Emily hesitated for a moment, gathering her thoughts. "He found us, and that's all there is to it. He told us about my brother working for someone, and..." Emily's voice trailed off, a sudden wave of exhaustion washing over her. "Where is this heading?" she finally asked, her frustration evident.
"Say what?" Edward said, looking perplexed.
"Where is this heading to?" Emily repeated, her patience wearing thin. "I've told you everything you need to know."
"Except there are a few things you need to know about him," Gustavo interjected, his tone serious.
