"Do it now," Edward commanded over the phone, his voice cold and decisive. He ended the call abruptly. Gustavo's eyes were on him, silently pleading for an update. "The money will be sent in a few minutes," Edward replied, his tone clipped. Gustavo nodded but couldn't contain his frustration. "I think I should be clear about this." He cleared his throat, steeling himself. "This is stupid." Edward simply shook his head and turned away, knowing there was no other option. This was the path he had chosen, or rather, the one forced upon him by legacy. This is what his father would have done—perhaps. He had never truly understood his father.
